I urge all captains who can afford it to do so as well. I will put the link up to the donation page here https://www.redcross.org/donate/hurricane-florence-donations.html/?cid=hurflorence&med=cpc&source=google&scode=RSG00000E017&gclid=CjwKCAjwuO3cBRAyEiwAzOxKspobbDkZDu51PE45-D7nulGeFtpKUjk-HxEORkPXvOt7vaVamC224xoCHn4QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=COb0xKO5ut0CFUjCwAodmQYNtQ Post a reply to this if you donated or wish to send your best wishes. 3. Before you nattering nabobs get on me for thinking that I consider that the impact of a hurricane upon computer game consequences is the most important thing: You're wrong. This PSA is for folks who have taken care of life and limb of themselves and those for whom they are responsible, and property safety, FIRST. Okay, as you probably know, the WoWs 3rd Aniversary event, as far as containers and Tokens go, ends in the wee hours of the 19th. As you are also aware, the end of the Go Navy event was a bit of a cluster ****, and not all of the cluster was on WG's part. Kizarvexis had a good post suggesting Monday as a sensible cash-in date under regular circumstances. But also factor in the approaching hurricane: Folks along the Eastern Seaboard better consider that you might not have Monday at your disposal. Likewise, the Anniversary events that last a bit longer - power outages might affect your ability to finish those, too. Even for those of you in circumstances and locations of reasonable safety, consider: 1. You may be out of electricity for an extended period of time (days) before the regular deadline. A tree falls across your line in your yard? Too bad. Power companies are likely to be prioritizing getting getting customers back on line by the thousands, and your individual outing will make you the low man on the totem pole. 2. You might keep electricity, but your ISP, or major hubs, might suffer outages. 3. Wargaming is likely to be unwilling/unable to respond to opportinities you lose due to weather-driven adversities. 4. You might get a call from family or friends needing to bug out and come to your place for refuge. Do the right thing. You might be having to host, house, and feed extra folks unexpectedly. Back when Go Navy ended, those of you who go caught with your pants/tokens down and griped about it on the forum, got some real salt. It was earned. But, if you get hosed over by Ho Flo and come here asking for sympathy from WG, I imagine the salt and butthurt you get for complaining about it, while there is real hardship and real issues in the real world aftermath, will make the post-Go Navy salt feel like a day at the beach. So, everybody, get your real-life stuff addressed first. If you're in a good position of safety where you're at, great. Here's hoping that computer game inconveniences are the worst things you face over the next few days. To the extent that you can, avoid even those.
