How do you %#&@ this up?

I just saw something so funny that I just had to put it on the forums. It was the closing stages of a battle, I was telling everyone to get in the cap because we had my Langley, a Bellerophon, and a Charleston against a Hosho. And no way are we going to catch that thing. I'm in the cap, fending off dive bombers, avoided. Good thing I have November Echo Setteseven! And that's when I see some torpedo bombers coming. I immediately think "Oh ship" because, well, it's a Langley. I put the rudder at half to starboard. I don't want to turn fully since the Langley only goes like 9 knots in a full turn-with Sierra Mike. But then 3 things happen at once: the torpedoes are dropped so close that one actually shatters aginst my hull, and I only hear one ping my fighters come off cooldown the torpedo bombers pull up sharply to avoid crashing into the deck The game is programmed to send planes directly back to the carrier, too far up for AA to reach. But they were already going up at 75º when turning, which means that the planes proceed to STALL OUT OVER MY CARRIER. My AA gunners blow them out of the sky as they fall. Then I send some Gulfhawks up, and they rip the remaining torpedo bombers to shreds. ♦ This was the result(nobody else got in the cap, but my AA gunners did their job well):

    Tips for Hosho?

I got Hosho today, and my first game went rather well; 2 Destroyed 50k Damage and 3 Citadels (I didn't notice that the Hosho had AP dive bombers, I thought they started at the Ryujo). I noticed a significant improvement with the Hosho over the Ranger, even though the Ranger is of higher tier. However, the games after that I was only able to get 20k-30k damage per game, with the same number of citadels. I don't think I know how to lead torps correctly; I can only hit one torp on a destroyer in a run and it's difficult for me to hit cruisers and battleships. With the attack planes I think I will get better as I get a new computer, but is there a good angle at which you should come in with your attack aircraft? With the AP dive bombers I watched Yuro's Ryujo at least three times, but when i try to drop from mid height I don't start the run correctly and my bombs end up missing. When i stick to high height it;s the same thing. I have gotten mediocre with the AP dive bombers, but once again I would like to get better. Are there any tips that you experienced payers can give me, someone who sucks at CV in general? Also, does anyone have recommendations for captain skills and upgrades? I'm training a IJN carrier captain (obviously) that currently has Air Supremacy and Torpedo Acceleration. For upgrades I have Air Groups Modification 1 and Aircraft Engines Modification 1. Thanks!!!
  3. I guess this was coming a while now, pretty much shows the situation with Hosho and how easy it is to sealclub and farm damage with. For anyone TL;DW, basically Hosho gameplay spamming the torpedo squad that uses 2 torps/attack while most opponents have negligible AA. Reaches almost 150k damage and talks about the situation.

    Need advice for Hosho

I'm restarting my IJN CV grind, but i found that with the one torp attack per wave and the unreliable damage of AP bombs on lower tiers, it's been hard to do decent damage. so could i get some advice on how to do more reliable damage and maybe a tip on which skills to take. currently i went for the 2 speed skills and the reduce aa damage for planes, because hosho's planes are too slow.
  5. Basicly in early tiers, when everyone has the same amount of squadron or almost the same amount, USN CVs has absolute advantage over IJN CVs because the difference between the strength of their fighter planes. I have searched around in the forum and seems like in later tiers IJN CVs tends to have more squadrons of figthers and it gets balanced out. but before that, especially in tier 4 and 5, with hosho and zuiho, its extremely hard to play as IJN CV because you tends to have your fighters competely rekt'd by USN fighters every fight and have their fighters eat all remains of your other squadrons. You will have to play extremely smarter than them, bait them into friendly aa range, outnumber them in a 2cvs vs 2cvs game, and you will STILL LOSE THE DOGFIGHT most of the time if you are up against USN fighters. and there is nothing about play style or what so ever at these 2 tier. because your enemy has absolute advantage over you. and it gets extremely unfun to play against USN CVs as IJN CVs because you tend to lose the air combat every time, tho there exist chances that the rest of your team may make a difference to the outcome of the game. maybe IJN CVs are balanced or even overpowered at later levels, but at early level they tend to have too much disadvantage and you will have to out-smart your enemies a lot to have your foot on the same ground. IJN and USN early tier CVs balances really requires a rework.
