WoWS Halloween 2020 - So why not have a King of the hill battle instead of this for Halloween?
Tpaktop2_1 posted a topic in General Game Discussion
After watching yesterday's WoWS stream, I understand the idea of obtaining the key and then exiting via a portal. However what I do not understand why backstabbing is very important for this new 2020 Halloween battle mode. I mean WG promotes teamwork within WoWS for all year and now throw that idea out of the window for Halloween battles. Don't the WoWS Devs understand how the Truce ran bigtime from last year? Do they think that players will not work the system? If you want a key, I will let you have it if you ask. How grubby do you want to be in gaining awards in what I feel is un-honorable action? -
Hey guys, I've recently been going down the rabbit hole with the SCP multiverse, a a kind of Pokémon meets Lovecraft version of Earth that is populated by Anomalies and The Foundation. It's a worldwide writing community where anyone can add in a supernatural SCP object for Foundation agents to track down and attempt to contain, as per their acronym: Secure, Contain, Protect. Recently I stumbled across these and felt they would be right up Wargaming's alley for the Halloween events. There are plenty more than just SCP-4217, and SCP-2846-B, such as ships present at Operation Crossroads becoming amalgamated into the mysterious SCP-1264. A creature large enough to fill the hulls of 5 of the ships sunk by the tests, USS Saratoga, Prinz Eugen, Nagato, a Mahan-Class destroyer, and a Balao-Class submarine. I'm sure Wargaming could work a story around existing anomalies and it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to do some creative licensing and add to their ranks. Maybe even Foundation Camos and SCP/Foundation Agent Commanders. Anyways, leave your thoughts in the towel section below!

Twilight Battle - Raid for the filth quick overview video
Karandar posted a topic in General Game Discussion
I played my first mission with a random pick up group in the new Twilight battle mode - Raid for the Filth - So much fun! a mix of savage battles and previous Halloween event goodness. The reward bundles look very very solid, especially the perma camo, but lots of consumables as well. Very well done Wargaming! I put together a quick video of the mission with a quick overview for anyone interested... Enjoy, and Good hunting!- 1 reply

Well with Halloween right around the corner. What are some of your favourite scary movies? Could be old or new. Everybody probably has some they seen that stuck with them. Two that I'll list to start things off with are Coma and Cujo. Reason being what made them scary is they are not that far fetched.

EDIT: sorry my google skills failed... just now noticed the post about compensation (3 port slots)... that'll teach me to post half asleep gonna leave this up for now in case anyone else also missed the announcement (mods please move/delete or whatever if it is the appropriate action for the thread and sorry for the trouble >.< ) I know its nearing the end of event but decided to give others the heads up since I got a rude awakening when it asked for 300 dubs to unlock the last event ship, and since you cant even sell them, AND that most people I talked to ingame were not aware either figured id post here to try get the warning out to more players. (EDIT: yes this was confirmed to have been unintentional) No idea why they did it like this... hope its just a lazy oversight and not something intentional and will not be back in future events.... along with the "surprise mechanics" (one can dream, right?) I really like the general idea of this event overall and had alot of fun playing this game mode, but these design choices do take some shine out of it.

This event was not well thought out. First you have players arranging truces which I find completely idiotic because than all you do for 15 minutes is sail around shooting a few bots. If I wanna sail around doing nothing than I can just go play tier 10... Than some [edited] tell u what can and cannot shoot. Yesterday I was told not too shoot human red players..like WTH!!. I will shoot whatever I like... Well to hell with that..as of today if its red its going to be dead and if you don't like me honoring your stupid truce..well that's too bad..

RFTF PVP ought to be engaged in mostly in late mid-to-endgame, with human filth drops modified slightly, together with more intense Bot spawns early game to build Filth Load for it. What would this look like: Frags of Human Ships less than half-Filth full reward dramatically less Filth (even Zero) than Filth from Bot Frags, but more base XP and/or Human Ship damage/frags (less than half-Filth full) come at a cost out of one's own filth (until the portal opens) Frags of Human Ships more than half-full drops slightly more Filth than same-class bots PVP Endgame Incentivization: Full Filth Human Ship Frags drop Full Filth Total for collection (after the Portal Opens)-- something to spice endgame up/tempt trucers/low filth haul carrying players to that point ~Individual Human Players' filth % retention upon being PVP-fragged > 20%, regardless of portal entry requirement [no griefers' glee/schadenfreude of depriving filth/sniping & camping at the portal ] ~Parallel PVE/Operations Meta: A minimum Filth Threshold for the Entire Lobby, influenced by #1-4 as a Hard Failure Condition & requirement mandatory for the 20% Filth Hedge -- something to be reached by midgame. No RFTF should consist entirely of PVP, interspersed with occasional Bot interruptions; Bots need to be the primary & constant threat in a horde mode in early to mid-game at least (early game is esp. too slow), dividing attention enough to make prioritizing PVP exclusively more hazardous in the lead up to endgame. This mode isn't strictly PVP, or PVP would be the most efficient & meta form of filth acquisition. Without the above, current RFTF PVP dynamics degrade core gameplay (Cooperative PVE Horde/Raid) in a manner that is quickly unpalatable to casual and new players, while incentivizing griefing-like gameplay styles for marginal personal gain of XP and Filth, at the cost of the Lobby/Raid Party as a whole-- calling these matches a "Successful Raid" is a farce. A PVE raid is characterized by efficient and skillful execution of the meta, guaranteeing completion at a high success rate -- no one is playing Raid for the Filth for upwards of 20 minutes to be robbed at the end for 80% (or all) of what one otherwise did right and accrued toward a smooth endgame egress for the lobby to that point. Especially not new or casual players. Imagine Left-For-Dead or Warhammer: Vermintide meets Dark Souls PVP Invasion mechanics; Team Fortress 2-as-Fortnight; Path of Exile/Warcraft Hardcore PVE raids, but you can be 'ganked' and perma'd by 2/3rds of the Raid Party at anytime; Dead by Daylight,-- but the Survivors are trying to axe-wound each other at the same time. This is what's at play here, and it's a not-great compromise of all three standard game modes that isn't helped by its Rogue Wave Battle Royal team format; if the game design intention was PVP, RFTF doesn't incentivize or reward it well enough while undercutting the better aspects of Sunray In the Darkness/old Submarine modes' pure PVE Horde Defense/Raid elements at the same time. Conclusions: Raid for the Filth has enough elements to be a 'raid', but it's also a Team Battle Royal if more than 1 person decides it is -- The game economy aspect for IX/X camoflauge rewards grind is casual/new player hostile enough as is -- with all of the aforementioned reducing player engagement/retention in those demographics (PVP-heavy RFTF matches are senseless 'Battle Royal' anarchy which alienates your significantly older user base), integration of points 1-4 is required to make an onerous grind less noticeable by improving the enjoyment of the core gameplay of the mode. Impulse/frustration purchases of Halloween Camouflaged aren't even being incentivized, with the very low-effort, very vanilla, and obviously asset-flipped generic Mad Max/Rogue Wave Event-style perma camos, instead of ones actually featured in the mode -- Suppose one receives a drop for the Skorpion skin, and doesn't have Yamato, but they quite like the skin -- does this player log in more to grind it, perhaps making more future purchases as a result? One proper Tier X camouflage out of a stable of half a dozen plus isn't tanking your game economy, -- you might even have offered just the cosmetic Tier X skins, sans economy-camo bonuses as rewards (in the 8k Filth bracket) while still generating actual hype/tolerance for the Filth Grind; this Trifecta of Mad Max/Rogue Wave event (re)skins are such an eyesore that they're going to be disproportionately allocated to non-meta ships and their grinds almost exclusively (not ideal, game-economically either, is it?) Anybody else having trouble with the Permo Camos from the Halloween Containers?
TwoOfFour posted a topic in General Game Discussion
During the course of the Halloween event, I have yet to get any of the permanent camos from the Halloween containers. I've opened open about a dozen with no luck whatsoever. I can't tell if RNG just hates me or the chance of getting one is really low. All I've gotten so far is the two types of Halloween camo. Anyone else experiencing this? -

So I recently got a 5 star match on the second Halloween mission and got the really awesome Great Gorgon camo. I already have an almost max upgraded Shokaku and read somewhere that the Gorgon camo equipped all the planes with the bat skin. However, when I went to put on the camo, the planes did not have the bat camo. Is this right? Or am I wrong that the planes get the bat camo?

When playing the Urashima (DD) in the Sunray in the Darkness Halloween event, you have at your disposal the "Anti-Guidance System II" consumable which, as it states, stops enemy ships from firing their main guns at your ship. The enemy DDs, however, seem to not be affected by this consumable at all which seems to me to be a bug. Can anyone else confirm this?

I saw Flamu's sub video and installed the PTS client to test them out for myself (this took a LONG time, like, hours). You have to beat the Halloween 2016 escort mission one first and then it's supposed to unlock the other. Got 5 stars with it and, oh, right, the sub one is not the "of the week" one so it requires a division to play it. [edited]. Lame.

We are happy to present you with the Developer Bulletin for Update 0.7.10. This Update continues the British arc, as well as bringing a lot of exciting novelties to World of Warships. What you get is another month of Royal Navy, new Halloween missions and features, Ranked sprint, and much more! IMPORTANT! Because the Update is still being tested, the information in this Bulletin is tentative, and reflects the state of game development at the time of its publication. Changes and new features may be removed entirely or implemented differently by the time the Update goes live. Screenshots, specific values of certain characteristics, and details of in-game mechanics will not necessarily be relevant after the Update is released. Royal Navy and British Destroyers The Royal Navy event is in full swing in World of Warships. Having taken part in it, players can receive brand new Tier V–VIII British destroyers and be the first to try them out in battle. The remaining British destroyers are undergoing final stages of testing at the moment. You will not be able to get Sovereigns in the new version, but they can be exchanged for quite an extensive list of valuable rewards. You can also keep accumulating Guineas for Tier VIII Premium destroyer Cossack, making it available with a huge discount. The new Royal Navy phase offers another 4 Stages, with each lasting 1 week. Each Stage has four Directives that contain a specific number of missions to be completed. Having completed a Stage, Directive, or mission, you will receive a corresponding reward, including various game items, Guineas, and new Halloween containers. You can complete the missions simultaneously, but you will only be able to access the next Directive after completing a certain number of missions from the previous one. Missions can be completed simultaneously and across any number of battles, unless indicated otherwise. Don't worry if you are unable to complete something on the fly, because all the Directives are available for completion until the end of the Stage. Halloween Halloween Port The Halloween Port will welcome you with its bewitching mysticism. Its emerald waters, steep cliffs, and a majestic castle suit well the place where the Forces of Darkness reign. Saving Transylvania and Sunray in the Darkness This year's celebration of Halloween is set to bring joy to players with the return of familiar operations: Saving Transylvania and Sunray in the Darkness. To complete Operation Saving Transylvania, you will have to gather all your courage again and accompany the ship called Transylvania to a place safe from the Forces of Darkness, protecting it from the attacks of catapults and Zikasa ships along the way. However, making it all the way will not mean you are safe, because the meanest enemy awaits you at end—ship Rasputin! Sunray in the Darkness encourages players to band together against the Dark Forces that strive to break through the open portal. You will be aided by magic security towers, bestowed with power to close the portal again. Your main goal will be to protect them from a host of enemy ships. Repulse the attack of the Forces of Darkness until the portal closes and keep your eyes on the updated and advanced Filth, which will deduct your ship's HP just by touching it. Those who consider themselves die-hard slayers of the restless Forces of Darkness will have a chance to complete the Hard version—to be played in divisions—to forge their spirit in more dire circumstances. Terror of the Deep After completing the previous year's operations, get ready for a unique opportunity to complete a fresh operation entitled “Terror of the Deep” on submarines! Submarines are the long-awaited new type in World of Warships. However, they will be available exclusively in the new operation. While steering this new type, you have to master a new dimension—depth. You will be able to maneuver freely between the water’s surface, periscope depth, and deep waters. Every change in depth will affect your visibility and attack capabilities. You will get a chance to see the beauty of the underwater world and use submersion as a tactical maneuver—you can attack the enemy with your bow armament, and, on some submarines, having passed your enemy underneath, deliver a salvo from the stern. Torpedo tubes are going to be your primary weapon on submarines, and each torpedo can be launched independently. Besides this, each submarine can carry different types of torpedoes. In the new operation, there are going to be two of them: “standard” with considerable speed, and that are quite familiar to you from playing on destroyers, and “freezing” torpedoes, which are faster and deal less damage, but when they hit the target ship, disable her with all her systems for a certain period of time. One should not forget about an entirely new parameter for us, which is the oxygen supply. Keep an eye on its level — your submarines will replenish it at the surface and spend it when they dive. If you run out of oxygen, the submarine will initiate emergency surfacing. Become familiar with the new type, and break into the World of Darkness. Complete all challenges, with each challenge more difficult than the previous one and face the ultimate foe—Battleship Rasputin. You’ll have a choice of standard or more difficult modes. Select the standard mode if you’d like to get familiar with the new submarine mechanics, while a more difficult variant will allow you to truly immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the game. New Camouflages During the public test only, apart from those from previous Halloween celebration that you enjoyed, you will receive new camouflages for the following ships: North Carolina (Leviathan), Kiev (Razorworm), Z-23 (Steel Rat), and the first animated camouflage in the game—Mogami (Octopus). These camouflages resemble your opponents from the new operation; we hope that they’ll be a welcome surprise for you! Ranked Sprint A new format of Ranked battles will become available with the release of the new version, with two short and action-packed seasons, available for Tier V ships in 6х6 and 8х8. Within the season, players will be divided into two leagues: rank 1 to 5, and rank 5 to 10. Join the battle as a Division with 2 players from your league or on your own. One of the special features of this sprint season is that it’s going to be shorter than the main season. The Sea Wolves league will not be available. Though this new format is intended mostly for the new players, all players are welcome to take part in the Sprint. Team up with your friends and good luck! Torpedo Warning A fresh and pleasant change for players will be new torpedo threat detection mechanics. The purpose of these new mechanics is to reduce the number of false torpedo warnings about torpedoes that are not dangerous. We hope that these warnings will help to improve the effectiveness of your maneuvers in battle. Matchmaker Based on your numerous requests, in the upcoming update, we’ve introduced a “soft” limit of 4 destroyers in random battles. This limit comes into effect when the first player in the queue waited for a battle for less than three minutes. In co-op battles, no more than 4 destroyers and 4 battleships are allowed. Supply We’ve introduced a new section called “Supply”. If you log in to the game regularly, you’ll receive rewards. So hurry and claim your reward! Be amongst the first to test the changes we’ve made in 0.7.10! Collect your rewards and share your impressions and feedback with us!
