¿Has hecho tu elección? Entonces, ¡batalla! ¿Cómo demuestras lealtad a tu equipo? 2. As the Go Navy! event is winding down, it looks like Eagles are going down with a W/L of 0-25. What happened? Why was the event so lopsided? And more importantly, why should we care about these questions? This post is dedicated to providing my opinions on what happened. I would also like to summon @Pigeon_of_War to read this, as he deals a lot with community feedback (and does an amazing job with communication between fans and developers). Note 1: I do have a slight slant to Eagles, but I'll try to remain unbiased Note 2: Not trashing or insulting the developers or any WG Staff, they do an amazing job. I am merely suggesting stuff they could do better. Let's start with the rules of the event and then go to the other points. There are two teams: Sharks and Eagles, and you pick which one you want to join at the beginning of every day. Sharks were always in the lead due to the sheer amount of people joining sharks., but there are things the devs should have done to keep the event competitive. First: why is one team a sea dwelling animal and the other an air dwelling animal in a game about fighting on the sea? This was just asking for lopsided numbers. Also the classic "red v. blue" coloring that almost always gives the advantage to blue. (If anybody wants me to, I'll explain that below this post) Second: other Forumites complained about how multiple big clans planned to join Sharks to get them to win. This is fine in my view, as the event forced people to choose sides, and wouldn't you side with your clan? (Scheming between two separate clans is also bound to happen in any MMO). Third: Why do you have to pick your side every day? I think if you picked a team to join at the start and continued with that team until you got a recruiter message would have been just better game design. You get loyalty each day, and recruiter messages will pop up after good games and ask you to switch sides for a container. The loyalty each day mechanic was fine in my eyes, but the recruiter messages could have done a lot better. First: Why do the recruiters only appear after good games? They should appear after good games and games where you barely got any points for your team. Think, if I am close to a Shark container after a good game, why am I suddenly going to switch to Eagles? Second: Why was the Shark recruiter like "You've been an Eagle, and that's fine, but you can join Sharks and dominate the seas and win!" while the Eagle recruiter was like "It's okay if you still want to be a Shark, just if you want to you can join Eagles". This was a horrible mistake from a player and a game designer perspective. You're just asking for people to switch and stay on Sharks. Third: Why was the award for switching a container, while the award for staying was a measly 2 loyalty. The award for staying should have been at least 3 or 4 loyalty. The team that looses continually gets a bigger point multiplier each day. And yet Eagle got the bonuses every day (up to a 150% multiplier one day) but never won. Why? The multiplies should have kept increasing until the Eagles won, then reset instead of just fluctuating on the designers whim. Also, after many people switched to Eagles after maxing out their points on Sharks the multiplier actually went DOWN! Why, why, why Wargaming did that happen? It was like they said, "yeah, Eagles aren't going to win, even with a bunch of people switching". This, in my view, was the biggest mistake Wargaming actively made during the event. You get Tokens and Containers for doing well and staying loyal to your team. You can buy stuff from the Arsenal with the Tokens. The containers give flags, camo, and coal. I'm good with this system, not much to say. Containers were also available in the Premium Shop that just gave Tokens directly, but this is fine as it was WG's way of monetising the event. My only small complaint is that the containers should have had a very small chance to give you a big prize (Like an USA Premium ship or a boatload of camos) to just increase that feeling of "Am I going to get something super rare and cool" when you earn/buy one of the containers. Finally, the biggest question, why should any of us care about this event at all? Because it was something that we participated in, and a game should always attempt to make something the community participates in as fun and engaging as possible. Many people adopted the attitude of "this isn't a showdown of two teams that I have fun in, it's just a way for me to get free goodies". This attitude is a sign that the developers failed at engaging and entertaining players, which is what game development is all about. I'm sure from the financial or population standpoint the event was a full success, as it did increase the amount players played and paid (heh, I'm proud of myself for that alliteration), but from the standpoint of "How did this make me enjoy the game and community more", the event shows it's shortcomings. There SHOULD be (friendly) arguments on the forums over which team was better, it SHOULD be a fierce competition between teams, seesawing back and forth between the teams, it SHOULD foster a spirit of friendly competition. That's just signs that the event is engaging and entertaining the players and also bettering the community and the game. Why did you even write this post? Was it just to complain? Partly, yes, but mainly to inform Wargaming of some of the communities views on the Go Navy! event and how it could have been improved. I do hope that if they run another event like this, that they take some of these complaints and suggestions and use them to design a better event that better engages and entertains players, and gives us that feeling of "Man I like this game even more because of these events", instead of "That event was alright, it gave me free goodies". At the end of the day, I'll still be here, at my keyboard, playing WoWS for a long time to come. I made this post because I care about the game. I want it to be healthy and foster a love of the game in it's players. I want the developers to keep doing stuff like this to make the game funner and better, but the Go Navy! event just didn't achieve everything it set out to be.
  3. If the event is over, why do we still have the "Go Navy" imagery on our NA forums?
  4. Hey guys, Been playing the Go Navy Event, just had some questions about it and am hoping you could give me some answers. 1: With the Go Navy event coming to a close, will the arsenal or coal be removed or will it stay? I say this, cause I want to get the Musashi and I currently have around 53k coal. I don't want to lose this investment if they decide to remove the arsenal. 2: How will we be able to earn coal now? 3: If I purchased a ship like the Gangut/October Revolution in the arsenal even though I already had it in my port would I get dubloon or credit compensation or would it not let me purchase it if I already own it? 4: I haven't participated in the Hunt For Bismarck event, and was wondering if the skins unlocked for that event offer any bonuses to the bismarck like increased income, xp, etc. or are they purely cosmetic? 5: How many hunt for bismarck containers would I need to buy to unlock the special skins for my bismarck? Well, that pretty much sums up all my questions, please if you know the answer to these write the appropriate number and answer, and if you do not know the answers to these questions, please don't answer them with inaccurate information. Thanks all!

    Go Navy Event Clarifications

Hey Guys now i have done something stupid here. instead of switching to Eagles after 15 days i clicked stay accidentally so my 5 loyalty that has to go to Eagles went to the sharks. I now have 80 loyalty to Sharks. The contest lasts from 27-07-2018 to 21-08-2018. Does it include the 21st as well ? And will the arsenal store be up on the 22nd i.e the patch day ?
  6. So, I do not have the Salem at this point. If you get the Salem through the Arsenal, does it come with the customary premium camo? If it does not come with that camo, if I get the Go Navy camo for it now, even though I do not have the ship, that will still work, once I do get the Salem, right?
  7. If you are planning on purchasing Freedom Containers in the Premium Shop to complement your haul of tokens from the Go Navy event (or for any other reason), you should note that sales of Freedom Containers will end early morning August 20, North American time--effectively, August 19. In other words, sales of these containers will end simultaneously with the Go Navy competition itself. This is per an update or clarification (or something I had not seen previously) to the Premium Shop in August news item this morning: https://worldofwarships.com/en/news/common/premium-shop-august/. The implication of this is that you will not be able to wait to purchase any "top-up" Freedom Containers until the window between the end of the event itself and the anticipated arrival of patch 0.7.8 early on the morning of August 22, with which the special Go Navy section of the Arsenal (with tier X permanent camos available for tokens) will disappear. You should still be able to spend your tokens in the Arsenal during this two day, August 20-21 interval.
  8. Are the "Go Navy!" rewards set, or will they get update and change at some point this month? As it stands now, I'm really surprised that the "tempt you to switch sides" thing is just one crate. Why would I risk all the loyalty and tokens I've been collecting for a single crate? Seems absurd. Especially since Sharks have won every single day... As to rewards themselves, the only ones of real value are the top ones (if you have a Tier 10 and need/want camo,) or... the Stars and Stripes "S&S". The S&S camo is better in every way (and less of an investment at just 5 tokens,) than the Shark/Eagle ones "S/E". Sure you get 10 S/E vs 8 S&S (for 50 tokens) - but it is 125% vs 100% XP bonus, and the S&S has 2x the Commander bonus. I'll admit, the S&S camo looks meh, but how much time to you spend looking closely at your own ship anyway? I'm surprised that there's no added value in saving up for the 50 token package vs the 5 token one for the Stars and Stripes too. If we could use our coupons or something, but it is just at a flat exchange rate, so no point in not buying the 5 token ones. Unless... the Go Navy rewards will vary and/or get updated at some point. So, does anyone know?
  9. So I'm playing in my North Carolina and I get the "Destroy or incapacitate at least any 15 modules" in battle mission for the Go Navy Event. I switch to HE and figure I'll get it done in 4 or 5 salvos on a Battleship, a little more vs a cruiser. So I warn the team that I'll be slinging HE, so they won't think I'm an idiot. Oh look, first customer and it is an Alabama. Shiny, I should get in a few HE salvos before we cross paths and seconds later there is a NC with him too. I should complete this in battle mission. Shells land on the 'bama and what? 20! AA guns destroyed in the first salvo. Mission completed. WOW! (Sorry, I just missed the mission completed screenshot and it didn't show in the replay.) Too bad we didn't have a CV in the battle. He would have liked that. Especially when 2 HE salvos on the NC took out 15 AA guns.
  10. OK, everyone, please check and critique my math on the loyalty/tokens aspect of the Go Navy event. While there has been no official announcement, the port icon for the Go Navy event suggests that it will end on August 20. Let's assume that August 19 is the final active day. On that basis, there are 26 days of the event, including today. It appears that you can earn 5 loyalty per day. Playing coop this morning, just to test, I got an invitation to switch teams about four battles in, which I refused, for +2 loyalty; I should get another +3 loyalty at the end of the day for earning points. While it is possible that invitations to switch only go to members of the team that is ahead (I was a Shark at the time, and Sharks were winning this morning), that would be massively disadvantageous to players on the team that is behind. Nonetheless, I'd love for it to be confirmed that everyone is receiving these invitations to switch. But if these assumptions hold, there is a pool of 130 (26x5) earnable loyalty from now to the end of the event. Loyalty earns tokens for one team when you pass certain thresholds. It appears that the maximum loyalty you can have to any one team is 75, and at reaching 75 loyalty you will have earned 195 tokens for that team. So let's assume that you play 15 days remaining loyal to one team and reach 75 loyalty (15x5=75) and 195 tokens for that team - Sharks, let's say. The next day you switch to the Eagles, and play out the remaining 11 days for them, earning 55 loyalty and 95 Eagles tokens. With your Sharks tokens, you can already get one of the permanent camos for Worcester, Salem, or Des Moines. If you want more, you can go to the premium shop and buy containers, which contain both 10 Sharks and 10 Eagles tokens apiece. Three would give you 125 Eagles tokens, enough for a second premium camo. Six would give enough for a second Sharks permanent camo as well. TLDR: It appears that by playing every day, in the right pattern, while managing your loyalty, you can end up with three permanent tier 10 camos for $30 (six containers), plus all the other stuff that the containers yield and that your leftover tokens will buy. Worth it? No idea, but this appears to be a strategy.
  11. I only have 30 loyalty. And it ends tomrorow. I've collected all 4 containers each day, but just noticed that the formula for loyalty is: +3 for each day, +2 for declining the other team. I only got approached once a day, really I only get 5 each day. I was shooting for one of those Des Moines or Salem premium camos but I've come to realize its not even possible to get 50 loyalty? Am I wrong or missing something here? Thanks in advance.
  12. This fuss over Go Navy! and Sharks winning for three days straight and poised for fourth victory leave my unable to help but lay down something (from the leftovers I find in my imgur) that might be of relevance: In the fourth quarter of 2016 WoWP had a long event called "Japanese Threat" - basically Axis versus Allies confrontation in the timespan of two hours each day, but the time problem is not applicable here. Players get to pick their side minutes before the confrontation begins and the system will automatically funnel the latecomers into the disadvantaged teams if they are late for the selectiontime. The relevant problem is that the selection of aircrafts are so lopsided that it is pretty much a guaranteed Allies win every time in a vacuum. How the confrontation works is that the teams will start with a certain amount of points, and the points that will go to deduct that of the opposing side come from destroying things in battles. Victory is by either having more points remaining than the opposition or running the opposing side's points to 0. Individual players gain loot boxes at the end of confrontation from kills and achievements in battles, and players on the winning side will get double the number of the boxes they managed to get during the confrontation. The balance of vehicles is not important for this discussion, but it was lopsided enough that winning by zero points was a real possibility: The balancing factor of this event is that the defeated side will get more initial points according to the margin of defeat, which continues to add up until the losing side can no longer be overpowered. Of course being the first time they did this kind of thing, it did not work at the beginning so it was Allies' winning streak for a week or so, although the balance system eventually worked, and turns out like this: ...and this is when it overpowers the winning side, eventually giving the losing side a win The NA WoWP forum has a thread recording the results of most of the event on that cluster if you're interested: http://forum.worldofwarplanes.com/index.php?/topic/46769-a-record-of-the-japanese-threat-event-day-by-day/ Planes held two more events of this nature: Thor Hammer (later 1.9), and Skies of Albion (early 2018, post-2.0). With all the pressing issues fixed there were no complaints (except for the format which has time constraint that prevent certain player demographics from even participating) as confrontation went from one side to another. Jumping teams no longer guarantee victory as often the increased initial points were enough to outlast the overpowering opposition, forecasting the result becomes harder to do along with it. What does any of this have to do with the ongoing Go Navy! event? The flat 50% points bonus to contributions is not enough considering how much Sharks is outpacing the Eagles at the time and I doubt that it will make the events look good...Balancing by maxed out loyalty and counting on players to switch sides to gain max loyalty on both sides is an iffy way of balancing the event, so to speak. It is not about playing better as it is tantamount to telling people to bang their heads against a brick wall, to fight for futility itself. With all the time in the day (thus significantly less alienation of player-base) and little to none imbalance on vehicle choices, a semblance of balance will go a long way in making the event not be reviled in the future should the format be used again, make jumping sides not guaranteed to be winning? Then again...it's just over one box a day. But I doubt that it would look good in the aftermath if things stay the current course. I do believe there are more things to be addressed, but for the purpose of this history lesson I limit it to the balancing of the teams themselves for this occasion.
  13. Are Go Navy crates are worth it and a longer look at how important it is to Div up in a Worcester (with glorious Eagle camo on). Lastly, working discord link for those interested. The old link I gave out disappeared while we upgraded.
  14. y, Mission is HIT CITADEL THREE TIMES. As you can see, three cit hits are there, but the mission was not completed. They were 3 HE cits on a Bogue. Does the game not count CVs? Does it not count HE citadels? Or what?
  15. I apologize for the obvious nature of this suggestion. I'm sure it's been done many times before. I just didn't see a topic for it. I should see my Go Navy objectives in the upper-left corner of the screen exactly as I would see them playing in an Operation. Most of the time. we have standing Go Navy objectives like win games and sink ships plus one special objective. Showing me all of my Go Navy event objectives (preferably with points they earn) both reminds me what I want to focus on through the game and helps train me to look there when/if I play Operations. It also might be better for me to see my special objective as soon as I have entered the game, not when the game actually begins If I am in my ship 20 seconds before start, I am going to be going through pregame thinking and looking around. I may not be looking at the top of my screen when the banner appears giving me my objective. The one time you can most be sure you have my attention is when I enter the game. I could also be in the kitchen getting a drink and snack after dropping into the cue. :) But if I'm away from my computer, I could just as likely miss a special objective shown at game start as entering the game. I'll always see it if it is shown in the upper left throughout the game.
  16. Just curious if anyone knows what triggers the event of asking you to switch teams in the Go Navy event. That +2 loyalty, per day, seems to be very important in order to advance. So what triggers it?
