The primary armament of the Didos, and secondary of the KGV's, has been viewed by history as less than successful. It is asserted that it was a poor anti-aircraft gun, unable to meet its planned rate of fire, and with dubious merit against surface ships and subpar reliability.
However, there have been plenty of items in the history of warfare that have either been overstated, or unfairly maligned.
So my question, is the 5.25 remembered properly?
I'll start putting my 2 cents in later on, but want to see opinions first.
