I've been playing Wows since October 2015 and since around November I'm absolutely in love for the german ships (cruisers and battleships). Now that I finally got my Hindenburg the fun in the game is focused in upgrading my Roon captain to the Großadmiral rank (19 point captain). In the mean time I found interesting to share with the community my thoughts on what I consider the best line in the game: The germans. First things you should know before starting your grind the the great Hindenburg is that the germans are very unique in its ship characteristics. Your main strenght relies in your artillery, without a good artillery and aim these cruisers become utterly useless. Your AP rounds are the strongest in the entire game and, even though low tier has better results with HE, you need to know how they work because, starting on tier five, you will probably forget your HE (It's a trap, don't do it). However the main weakness of these ships is in their armor. German armor is among the worst in the game and the basic with german cruisers (along with knowing AP usage) is ship angling, without it you won't be simply useless, you will be demolished from the surface. With that being said I think it's time for me to review the individual ships (yeah, this was the intro, so be ready for some huge texts). The Hermelin, Dresden and Kolberg won't be reviewed by the simple fact that they are all just HE spammers, a lot of guns and are placed in a tier where strategy is often forgotten in battles. If any kind soul wants to write them down below, feel free I refuse to review the Karlsruhe for the simple fact that I consider it, by far, the worst ship in the game. For this reason I believe that I haven't played it correctly and once I have time to start playing it I'll post a good review here in the Forum. Königsberg Nürnberg Yorck Admiral Hipper Roon Hindenburg Special Hints: I hope you all have good games, captains!
ST. Balance changes. American destroyer Sampson, Tier II and American destroyer Wickes, Tier lll Torpedo range has been increased from 4.5 to 5 km. These changes will balance these destroyers with other ships in this Tech Tree possessing similar stats. American cruiser St Louis, Tier lll The sigma of all guns has been decreased from 2 to 1.8. Reload time of researchable guns has been increased from 8 to 9 seconds. Large HP, high accuracy and 152 mm guns made this ship one of the most efficient at it's tier. These changes are aimed to balance St. Louis with other ships at this level. German cruiser Dresden, Tier ll Reload time of guns has been increased from 4 to 5 seconds. This cruiser has a pretty high level of damage per minute. Changing this parameter will balance this cruiser in the line with other ships of this tier. German cruiser Yorck, Tier Vll The shell velocity of high-explosive and armor-piercing shells to travel 10km has been reduced from 5.65 and 6.72 seconds to 5.09 and 5.14 seconds relatively. AP shells damage has been increased from 5500 to 5600. These changes will align Yorck's ballistics with other ships in the Tech Tree and highlight the effectiveness of AP shells of German ships. American destroyer Mahan, Tier Vll Initial surface detectability range reduced from 7.92 to 7.64 km. The detectability after firing in smoke has been reduced: from 2.98 to 2.86. These changes are valid for all hulls and the main goal is to increase the efficiency of this destroyer in a melee battle, where Mahan can perform very well. The detectability radius of this destroyer didn’t allow it to fulfill its intended role in a battle and this adjustment brings it in the line with other ships of Mahan’s Tier. British destroyers Daring, Tier X and Jutland, Tier IX For historical accuracy the main battery has been changed from 114 mm to 113 mm. Please note that the information in the Development Blog is preliminary. https://www.facebook.com/wowsdevblog/?hc_ref=ARR9nUMXn_RsmqRex1ZInJWjV4_x7Bj1a7hRhxVHGcqHKNLq8xsMV-DIaixxjmfuAm4&fref=nf&__xts__=68.ARCFS9JlgkjJUwkHhJCxIwLWhGVmnWnbfF-UDs-UIUpgjaTBn9YB6c_9B8M6cHvdP77B2hi9B--bkhlkZPUIQ3hEv1OlAjS7G6NP414kGyi9FKLQDARyyKjIC7fvjhe00a-NwAw_-HEZKAJNJR7S1FVLhSygsHlQwVjgtyVKYxDiwJ98bgwGwBDz4SM0yJiPcT3Lao42_MRApnRNWC-m2ZXWnF0iVHrpiRzGnEOD&__tn__=kC-R EDIT: at the end the T9 and T10 UK DDs had their guns changed from 114mm to 113mm. That didn't seem significant, so I put T2-T7 in the title. I fixed it to T2-T10.
