  1. Arkansas Beta doesn't have any AA at all, but there are other premium T4 BBs that have virtually none. They have so little it is basically zero. They just provide a light show. Imperator Nikolai has 4 machine guns and a mighty 2z 63mm or 2.5 inch guns. Dreadnought on T3 also has zero AA. It's not unique to BBs either. Komsomolets, the fictional Russian TV CV has 2x 100mm machine guns for AA, although she can launch CAP fighters. Premiums come as they are. Arkansas Beta was a gift ship. They gave her crazy good secondaries for a T4 and all 6 upgrade slots so she can do things even T8 BBs can only dream about. She pays for that by being locked in her 1912 layout as opposed to Wyoming which appears in her later configuration. I have her too. I'm pretty sure there is next to zero chance they will change her. She's already really powerful for a T4.

    Russian CV's are broken

    Komsomolets makes Langley seem like a racehorse. The planes have to get so close to attack, you might as well just crash into the target. Serov doesn’t seem too bad, but you have to drop the torps so far out only the cluelessly unaware should ever get hit, (never mind the bizarre torpedo plane design.)

  6. How is this CV considered a tier 4? IMO, There is no way this ship is a tier 4 ship. Nothing can stand up to its TB planes. All other CV's for tier 4 drop one torpedo and this CV drops a full spread of four. Where is the counter measures in going against this ship's planes? This is another example in having the AA fixed within WoWS.

  14. Hi there, it has leaked that the Soviet carriers are on their way to World of Warships. I wondering what blueprints were used to create the tier 4 Komsomolets. It looks nothing like the Komsomolets blueprints that I've seen on the internet. The version I've seen: Wargaming's version:

    Added the Russian Carriers Tier IV Komsomolets and the Tier VI Serov.
  16. Tech line Cv should be able to pick/swap between rockets or Depth charges, force a choice between anti DD or Anti Sub. Premium Cv's should be able to change maybe a squad of their choice with ASW planes As for what the ASK planes are, I think they should be the same planes as the Torpedo planes of that CV with the depth charge load increasing with each tier (only research the depth charge planes once and they upgrade WITH the torpedo planes for free, since the upgrade only affects plane health & speed) for each attack run the depth charges should go to different depths (they go to each of the marked depths the sub can go to) , But only go to operation depth at most, and not maximum depth to give subs counter play since they can't spot or attack at max Nation Flavor Ideas USA: Slow, large flights with lower damage charges with more per plane, Japan: Fast, smaller~er flights with higher damage charges with low per plane UK: Fast, Small flights with lower damage with Lots per plane (like the carpet bombers) German: Fast, Large flights with mediocre damage with average per plane Russia: Slow, small flights where all attack, same planes & squad size of torp planes Deck space is same for rocket planes since they are replaceing them, and restoration time is same as torpdeo planes since they are the same plane, maybe, 10-30 Seconds faster if necessary Drop pattern: .5 KM long lines that are from side to side only about .5 KM wide at max (to limit CV's just spamming Subs ) Each plane has 2 lines, 1 per side about 100M of each wing side, OR they drop dead off the plane As the run "settles" the lines will shorten both vertically and horizontally USN CV for EX: Langley: no option for changing planes (no subs in its MM bracket).     Thanks for the review. I've been curious about the newest sisters to be welcomed to World of Warships. I've had some time to sail the Komsomolets. She's been a good trainer for the Russian CV line-up. I'm looking forward to sea-trials with the Serov. Had the good fortune to share a battle with @Princess_Daystar, a few days ago. She was putting her Pobeda through its' paces, and I was glad of the opportunity to observe.

Posting this after a trial run on the WoWs reddit, and debating which section of the forum to stick this in (this is more of a resource I feel, it would just get buried in general - who knows, maybe it will even get pinned). Long story short, for over the past years I started compiling an excel document of all the paper ships in the game, as a matter of reference. A short description, date of design, and whether this was a fictional (created by WG) design or not. A list of what every paper ship is a useful resource for those interested, so I have prettied it up and pushed it out so more people can learn from it and for me to improve it. And with creating such a list, there comes the matter of defining what a paper ship is, and ships that begin to blur the lines. Therefore I find it important to clarify what I have defined a paper ship as, and so attached a small text box to each image of the list. Repeated below it is as thus; A paper ship here is classified as anything that did not enter service (commission), as well as including certain ships that were built and served that have had their gameplay and appearance dramatically altered by fictional changes. Only major fictional changes to appearance and the main armaments of the ship are enough to get the ship labelled as fictional/fake, if I was any more tough Paper ships range from; - Ships almost commissioned and completed (e.g. - Graf Zeppelin). - Ships laid down, but never completed (e.g. - Amagi). - Completed designs due to be laid down, but never were (e.g. - Montana). - Preliminary designs (e.g.- Charles Martel). - Specifications for a ship, but no design completed (e.g. - Zaō). - Fictional creations by WG (e.g.- Conqueror). - Real ships (and designs) heavily edited from specification (e.g. - Huanghe, Chester). - Fictional members of a real ship class (e.g. - Harekaze). Spaces marked in Orange indicate uncertainty. Fictional ships are chosen by deviation from the original design and navy practices. Nearly all ships in this list have more minor model accuracy issues. Semi-Fictional ships are ships that have significant historical design basis but also differ significantly. Additional input on any of the ships would be welcome, I'm not a student of every navy, and will have repeated a mistake or few from my gleaning. Individual lists for; Imperial Japanese Navy: United States Navy: Royal Navy: Kaiserlichemarine/Kriegsmarine: Imperial Russian Navy/Voyenno-Morskoy Flot: Marine Nationale: Regia Marina: Koninklijke Marine: Pan-Asia: Pan-Europe (Effectively just Svenska Marinen): Commonwealth: Special/Other: And the one huge list, that is better off opened in a new tab since it is too damn long at this point. Honestly it is just best used as a visual device to show how many there are. I've retired the format of the big list, it got too big, hence I've put all the national lists into something more reasonably proportioned. Everything in one massive image (This does include historical flags for reference, might change if needed): Edits: So apparently I need to play 20 battles to post, but downloading the NA client to do so sounds like effort for the time being. Also Carnot might be more on the fictional side of things due to the superstructure and potential hull size differences, but I cannot confirm this right now. Added all the recently added ships, as well as those from within the last year. @- mofton. Since last updating this thread, Plymouth has been found to have a different hull to Edinburgh, and is roughly longer, meaning it's no longer fictional, even if it still has a myriad of other inaccuracies on it. @- fro5ty. - Mainly going off Sanglune's work, but there isn't much to say otherwise. I hope Komsomolets is an unheard of conversion rather than the more well known one, but I'm not hopeful. @- Lord_Slayer. I'm not exactly sure where to put the two super-BBs (as they are temporary event ships which will be going away at some point), but both are fictional anyway (the hull sizes don't match up to anything known, though A150 has a lot of wiggle room in that regard). @- Lert. Unfortunately that is the case. I probably should add 1047-inspired for the Dutch 8-10 in a similar vein to Tillman-inspired for Vermont, but they aren't 'real designs' due to WG's fiddling/creative interpretation. The different hull dimensions put paid to that for Gouden Leeuw at least. @- ortheki. Originally this was my thought, but closer examinations of the 457mm armed early versions of Projekt 24 have shown that the in game Kremlin is using a later (406mm) hull, with 457mm/48 that are a bit of an unknown quantity slapped on it. Effectively making it a fictional combination of hull and turrets. @- AllardLiao117 - UP.41 was the export to the soviets by Ansaldo, while the Italians kept progressing with their own internal 9x 406mm Battleship of which UP.41 was based on. As such UP.41 had Soviet secondary armaments and a different armour scheme and torpedo defense system. Marco Polo is neither, the armament matches with the later stages of the indigenous Italian BB, but the hull seems to be more inspired by UP.41, and even it is different from UP.41 in a number of ways.

    Well, so far I'm having fun with the TIV Komsomolets. As to being too overpowered, I was surprised I was able to take out a cruiser (3/4 health) with a salvo of my rockets.

    What I’ve learned playing Komsomolets; The ship is slow. The planes are slow. At least the ship isn’t as ugly as Furious; but it definitely has its Langley on, Soviet style. The rockets are easiest to use. The torpedoes are slow as molasses, and need to be dropped crazy far away. You practically have to land on the target to use the skip bombs, the run timer is so short. (-) Two ways to deal with this. Go into the training room and shoot at stationary targets. Go into Co-op, and when the game is basically over and everyone is chasing the last bot; launch your rocket planes and go shoot at rocks, (or villages/towns/cities,) or whatever. As much as I hated the recent rocket rework, it only took me a few times doing that for it to click; “Oh… That’s how they work now.” It’s really not that hard. Set your lead. First click. Let the reticle go back towards where you first aimed; this is your chance to adjust your aim. Second click. After that, everything is automatic. Either start thinking about where you’ll fly next, or F-Key out.

    WolfsWetPaws, thank you for asking my opinion! I found the Komsomolets to be fun to play compared to the tier VI Serov. This is mainly because the tier VI aircraft have absolutely NO survivability, while the tier IV aircraft do. I played 2 random matches in the tier VI, and 1 ranked...I was never able to get any attack flight within striking distance of any target ship. On the other hand, I was able to get Komsomolets' tier IV aircraft onto target nearly every flight, and only rarely understrength. Overall I would recommend the tier IV Komsomolets, but certain not the Serov. I will keep this comrade in my harbor, but will probably sell the Serov. If anyone has good experience with the tier VI Serov please speak up; it's very VERY possible that I am just as mediocre a player in CVs as in everything else I try to play!

    RU CV's (PVE Thread)

    I have the T4 and T6 CV's already (yes I bought some bundles for tokens but I sold community tokens for doubloons for the bundles [bought ship crates and got duplicate compensation] as well as directly for tokens so didn't cost me and I got the T10 perma and 500 token drops early not to mention some good dragon flags and those special Asian camos). I will get enough free tokens to get the T8 CV eventually. Only one I will have to grind is the T10. Grinding CV's in Co-op is awful (300K+ XP just from T8-T10 and then usually another 150K+ for the T10 plane upgrades - yes T10 CV's actually have plane upgrades) so any head start I can get is gladly taken. The T4 (Komsomolets) looks like Langley. Haven't played it yet. The T6 (Serov) is "interesting". The RU CV "gimmick" is the entire squadron attacks/drops. So 1 and done each time. I was TT in my 1 game with it so AA wasn't really a problem. Planes seemed fairly tough but again T5 AA so not a big threat. I think vs T7/T8 it will be rough. The planes on the T6 are nimble but slow'ish. Kind of Ark Royal meets Graf Zeppelin. The torps are brutal. The launch pattern starts out looking like Midway with it spread very wide but it narrows way down to be a perfect square/rectangle like Kaga only very narrow. You have a good long attack run to line it all up too. My game in Serov was short so I only had a couple attack runs but on every one I put all the torps on the target. Credited with 16/20 but that is because some hit after the target ship blew up. 16 torps for 41K damage isn't too bad. I haven't tried the skip bombers yet as I stick with torps mostly for Co-op. Will update that after I try them. I will say if you play PVP and one of these CV's is on the red side be cautious. The torps are gonna hurt as it is such a tight group and so many of them. You will need to WASD. They do have a long'ish arming distance so you should be able to dodge/mitigate the damage with some maneuvers. The planes on the T6 are very odd looking. Looks like a P38 Lightning was interbred with some kind of private plane. They don't look military to me. LOL. Will try and grab a screenshot and add it in a bit. Will post a few follow ups as I play more and also after getting the T8. Considered a sec build for the T6 but the guns are too small and the pen isn't enough (just 14MM) to make it worth it. Maybe for T8 or T10? Here are the T4 and T6 w/ the special event perma camos + 1st game for T6 (3rd on full human team = not bad)

    SovietCV Experiment

    I recently welcomed the Tier-4 Russian CV, the Komsomolets to my Port. Today I assigned a Commander to be her Captain, and began playing the ship. For the curious, the torpedoes from her planes travel at 41 knots. I sailed her in a Co-op game, a couple of training room situations, to get some familiarity with her ordnance and how it drops. Replays: 20210913_151911_PRSA104-Komsomolets_04_Archipelago.wowsreplay 20210913_153507_PRSA104-Komsomolets_00_CO_ocean.wowsreplay 20210913_154309_PRSA104-Komsomolets_00_CO_ocean.wowsreplay The 'bot red-team stomped myself and my 'bot green-team in the training room battles. At least I got some valuable personal experience. At 17 knots, the Komsomolets is slightly faster than the Langley. The skip-bombers ordnance does not reliably hit with all bombs. I suppose that's similar to other bomb-hit percentages from other CV's. The aerial torpedoes are dropped from a squadron composed of three planes, which (if all survive the attack run) drop a total of three torpedoes (1 torpedo per plane). The rocket planes are similar and comparable to other nation's CV's and their rocket planes, from what I could see. I will again mention that I got my stern stomped in two out of three games played, and that the Co-op game went well because of my team-mates rather than my own first-time-with-this-CV performance. That said. ^^^^ My impression is that the Russian Tier-4 Komsomolets is more suited to attacking large ships and less well suited to attacking DD's and other small targets. I plan to continue my study of this CV, and the rest of the Russian CV line. How have your experiences been, so far, @AirCrewChief ? :-) Edited to tag @Ahskance, on the chance he's interested.

    Welcomed the Tier-4 Russian CV, the Komsomolets to my Port.I've begun a selection process to determine who will become her Captain, from the available candidates in my Reserve Barracks.
