    So, 9 8" HE Shells = 1/4 health on sub.....

    Was he on the surface completely or at periscope depth? Because im pretty sure being at periscope depth essentially gives the sub full saturation effects. Flamu recently made a video showcasing how theyre actually tankier than some DDs lol....

    T6 RN CV Ark Royal Buffs/Changes?

    "and can do horrific things to CVs" Yes but only to CVs with unarmored decks, which is only Ryujo and Ark Royal itself (excluding T4 CVs you rarely run into anyway). But giving the bombers 21mm pen would enable it to dumpster more CVs of the same tier, giving more incentive to actually play it. "Not only that, but having a low speed lets you make obscenely tight turns, allowing you to repeatedly strike a target with torps." Yes thats true, but not for Ark Royal. Have you played it recently? Those planes turn like ocean liners, seriously. Other CVs can make tighter turns with torps, probably because they dont have biplanes. And yes I know speed is its main weakness, but since these are literally T4 planes, WG cant do much to tweak the existing speed values, so I looked for alternative buffs, trust me Ive thought it all out but the high skill floor it gets for its mediocracy doesnt seem very fair when ships like Serov and Lowenhart exist.
  3. All rockets got absolutely shafted after the rocket changes a few patches ago, but imo FDR's didnt change too much because it was never intended to strike highly maneuverable targets (DDs and CL's), so more or less its just a worse version of the BB farmer it used to be...
  4. Ark Royal hasn't been discussed on the forums very much as far as I know, and it certainly hasn't been talked about much on any other platform for years so I thought id point out its existence. Matchmaking: Ark Royal just only feels viable when top tier, in full T6 matchmaking it can be useful but it still has a difficult time performing, and don't even get me started on when bottom tiered lol, trying to strike any T8 ships with T4 Hermes planes is almost impossible unless you use islands for cover, and even still, all of its armament is pitiful. Possible fix: Give Ark Royal preferential matchmaking that does not surpass T7 (meaning Ark Royal cannot be matched with T8's) The planes: 19mm penetration on its HE bombs is horrendous, even at T6, and it forces you to chase DDs all game or try and start permafires, which is hard to do since your planes are so slow. Which leaves you with its (subpar) torpedo's as its main source of damage/game impact: They're slow, terribly slow (35kts base), even with Aerial Torpedo Mod 1 and Swift Fish you only get up to a messily 39kts. They do hit pretty hard on <T6 cruisers/destroyers and you get 3 per strike which is nice but BB torpedo belts negate a ton of that damage, and the awful flood chance reinforces the inconsistent and unreliable nature of them. And the rocket planes are useless, especially after the rocket nerfs, don't really need to elaborate on those. Possible fix: Give Ark Royal's Carpet bombers at LEAST 21mm penetration on its HE bombs, preferably 26mm as it would enable you to pen T6/T7 BB Bow/stern and some casemate plating, which therefore would require enough still to target the bow and stern to do consistent dmg to BBs (and not JUST to the superstructure) The concealment: 14km base, and if you're stupid enough to take Hidden Menace, just under 12km, but with the planes already horrific speed, yeah no one would take that... 14km detection forces you to stay very far back from the engagement zone, which makes you fly for minutes each time you take off with a new squad, and pushing to islands for cover isn't very easy with its "meh" speed of 32.6kts (31kts base), which would make it very hard to reposition. Possible fix: Drop Ark Royal's concealment value 2-3km's giving it 11-12km detection. Given how Ark Royal has the slowest squadrons of any T6 (by a lot), it should have superior concealment right? (from a game balance perspective) Yes the faster aircraft restoration is nice but you're going to lose a lot of planes, especially if uptiered so it really sort of cancels each other out. Note: I'm not calling for all of these changes to me made to Ark Royal, but just a few.
