They know that if they just ignore it this will all blow over in a little while and then it's back to business as usual, and there isn't a damned thing anbody can do about it. Seriously. They've milked the CC's for all the free work they could. They know most players are unaware, oblivious sheep to be fleeced. They know the gaming news will move on to the next hot topic. They know that most of y'all here will still be playing and spending just like before. Whales gonna whale, junkies need their fix. Why should they care? The dissing of LWM, the CC revolt, and WG's non-apology was just the detonation of a bomb WG has been planting on themselves for years. Yukongate and the Missouri fiasco just lit the fuse. This has been a long time coming.

Broad media coverage is the only thing that stands a chance of making any real difference. To that end, it doesn't hurt to ping media sites with "Hey, have you heard about...?" If the journos sense interest, they'll pick it up.

Good. The more media attention beyond our little world the better. It's a little surprising, really, since most gaming journos wear fishnet stockings and big hair on street corners. The publishers grift them generously to keep the public perception positive.

My spidey sense tells me that WG is perfectly happy to be rid of what THEY see as a bunch of whiny troublemakers who give them bad press. Wouldn't be a bit surprised if they decided to just chuck the whole program. If they're really wanting to be total jerkoffs, they could start doing ninja DMCA hits on creators they don't like.

Let's not forget Chobittsu, who was not officially a CC but nevertheless a popular modder and content creator, not to mention a good friend of LWM. I wonder how many indy modders/creators are cutting ties? Anyone heard anything?
