    The Halland is B-R-O-K-E-N

There are a lot of ways to fight against it... Its a slow DD without smoke and only two turrets.. Sure they reload fast, but they also get knocked out and that cuts you down to one turret that has some very weird vertical dispersion patterns at times.. French and British DD's are particularly effective against it.. (cant speak for the Harugumo as I have not faced one yet with the Halland)

I did not say remove the timer, nor require all ships be destroyed... Think of it like this, for a 20 minute match if it runs full length, the team with the most survivors wins... That would legitimize the sloth like hide and seek "I just want to snipe" crowd that never wants to help their team.. You assumed, wrongly, that the timer would go away... I never said nor implied that, I specifically singled out Cap points and the points ticker.. Yeah.... That Nurnberg battle was brutal.. the whole thing was less than 7 minutes long, with 7 ships dying in a two minute time span.. That left me to be focus fired by every ship on their team and the last death that ended the round.. If you want to say the teams I'm getting are good, I'd agree if you are saying they are good at dying. USMC... You get the Big Dog award for the day.. That is exactly what I have been trying to highlight... Bravo sir.. Bravo. 07

1SneakyDevil There comes a point where a sack of potatoes is just too heavy to carry.. For me, I'm not a super unicum. I'm an average player, and I've never claimed otherwise.. I do work to make myself better, but I also understand certain limitations within the game such as RNG that I can do nothing about.. I'm going to get overpens, unexplained bounces or shatters, or hits that simply never register in spite of seeing them impact the ship.. Now you wanted to attack me, and you assumed off the bat that perhaps I wasnt doing what I could to help my team.. I have a shot of the thunderer's end screen I'd like to share that will help clear some of that up. Its not that I'm not dealing damage, or that I'm not doing what I can to give my team an advantage.. The Shikishima in this match probably should have been a kill for me... I stopped shooting at it because after it fired its heal and I had it under 3K health, I left it for the team's gearing to finish off. Right after that I double Citadel'd the Venezia causing him to smoke up and hide the rest of the match because no one paid attention to the F3 command... Our Montana yolo'd and died in the first 4 minutes, followed by 2 other ships... World of Warships is a Team centric game.. Even people who routinely Carry matches do so largely because there is enough support on their team to give them the opportunity, whether from drawing focus and spotting, or getting the enemy to maneuver to where they can delete them.. It still takes the team... That is the brunt of it.. Now your post attacking me, and my response appear to have been removed.. I'm fine with that, as the attack was uncalled for. I hope you will keep in mind your own words.. With Random battles it is a role of the dice, and the larger problem is what is happening to the player base that is causing this..

Shrayes, That was what I tried to do.. You tackled the individual ship approach, I pointed to the multi-ship AA bubble tactic that Halland happens to excel at. Maybe the OP will learn to adjust based on understanding both parts.. Maybe not.. In anycase, no offense taken. Edit: Posted your edit just as I was posting my reply... Again, no worries.

    Pommern good but FDG bad?

Though you do have 4 extra filler shells there. We will have to wait and see. I may decide to save up the coal and give Pommern a try.

Yes.. That was kind of the point.. I was in fact backing you up....

It was like this last week too.. At this point, thats the type of teams currently in Warships, and if matchmaking RNG decides to screw you over.... Well, there is nothing to be done.. I've had a win ratio above 50% since I started the game.. Kept it at 51% or higher until just last week.. People are leaving the game, contributing to the gap issue true enough.. But I've also been one of the ones trying to explain that the Win Ratio should not be used as a comparison of players for this very reason, long before now.. Warships is a team oriented game.. It's not an individual achievement game, either the whole team wins or the whole team loses.. This is why people are abandoning Random battles for the most part.. Also heard from another acquaintance that they have moved on to a similar game from another company.. People are leaving, and I dont think Wargaming is willing to do anything to fix it.

Part of why the Halland appears so strong is that all of its AA is long and mid range, with high continuous damage.. It may have low numbers, but it is set up to work. Where Halland reaps benefits is when it uses that AA in conjunction with other ships.. It's the Halland that gets the plane kills while the others help.. (A good case in point was the CV saying "look at all the kills" while if you notice most of them were his fighter aircraft... FIGHTER, not attack, bomber or torpedo)

I think I am noticing a pattern here.... It gets frustrating when time after time your lemming train..... Uhhhh, team leaves you with zero options. That Nurnburg round was particularly brutal.. It was very fast, and our Massachusetts and New Mex never even moved out of the back.. Made it very hard trying to provide my teams DD's with support against 2 DD's and the molotov.. Whole lot of people sitting in the back, not moving up but waiting to try and snipe.... RNGesus in full effect, granting flat broadside ricochets for my BB AP inside of 15km (On a cruiser no less......) and typical dispersion. It would be better if Wargaming instituted a "Last man standing" round instead of points tally matches.. At least that would remove the pretense and force a pushing team not just to take the caps and then wait while a pack of idiots hides at the back line afraid to chip their paint.. Yorck was the only win tonight, and even that was almost thrown away.. Several of us had to get on Chat and force the Musashi, the Azuma, and the Rossiya to move up off the second row. If it wasnt for the Fletcher and the Enterprise during the middle and late game, those three ships would have handed the other team the win without so much as a exhale.

Yep... For those who point out both sides frequently enough, its easy to sit back and laugh... Especially when you recognize some of the same people who have complained on one side getting a taste of their own medicine when the game goes to the other side.. To all those unhappy souls,

    The Halland is B-R-O-K-E-N

"Gee Yogi..." Yeah... Guess how the rest of the player base has felt about CV's for about two and a half years, dealing with it all.... Welcome to the party buddy.. The European line was an attempt to give the DD main players something that could stand against CV's reliably. Wouldnt have needed to happen if CV's werent broken, or if they hadn't broken the AA because CV's were complaining about it being so effective... This is Wargaming's modus operandi, break things and upset people.. This is why many of us advocate a rebalance of the game from the ground up... Wargaming has added so much new content, it really is needed. They have removed content because nobody was using it after they messed everything up (Nurnburg C hull for example, who would trade more torps for AA that doesnt work....) but they dont want to risk upsetting the golden children so they nerfed the things that did work... The end result? AA is like hopping from island to island.. You have one good ship here, another decent one over there, and one really good one way way out there...... But everything in the middle may as well be shooting BB guns at tetradactyls. If they nerf the Halland, after having given that to us in place of smoke on it while making it one of the Slow destroyers, its going to tick people off and more will quit the game..

    Pommern good but FDG bad?

With the FDG it has more to do with the firing arcs on the main Turrets, keeping your armor extremely angled, and swinging out to get all barrels on target before angling again before the enemy reloads.. It would take time and practice, as well as knowing where and how to position, but those I've talked to that learn how to really use the FDG like that get some amazing performance from her... Just be mindful of the HE spam, so bring friends to back you up.

    Pommern good but FDG bad?

Ok, misunderstanding of Ships. Keep in mind I own neither yet.. Pommern is much closer to Grober Kurfurst due to the orientation and setup.. FDG has been complained about for a few years.. It is misunderstood however.. A few people figured out a while back that the FDG's strengths lay in luring an enemy into a chasing fight... It's a stronger ship kiting away than it is charging bows in.... Because most players only seem to know how their "W" key works and little else, they miss out on controlling the engagement distance, or they put the wrong captain on it (Ignoring a Secondary build is quite frankly ignoring the ships strengths). Ships, like boxers, need to be considered individually.. 1. Some are going to be distance fighters 2. Some are going to be rope-a-dope fighters, keeping a target right on the edge of their striking ability (Put the FDG here) 3. Some are going to be close range heavy hitters (like Rocky Marciano... Put the Pommern here, due to extra guns, crappy sigma, and torps) Hope that helps you understand or think of them a little differently. At the end of the day though, use them in whatever way you find effective.

The Devil's Advocate: Shall we do a test?

Mouse... Balance is an entirely separate issue from damage and Win numbers on spreadsheets, and seems to be that the understanding of that is the source of the rift between the player base and the Dev's.. As a prime example the previous Season's introduction of CV's to clan battles made a significant change to one ship in particular, and a detrimental change to an entire class. 1. Venezia 2. All Destroyers (Barring a few notable exceptions such as Shimakaze) It wasnt that Venezia suddenly became this OP ship that only the winning teams were bringing into battle, its that the presence of a CV changed how the Venezia was able to work in a way that boosted its capabilities.. That is the difference between "Balance" and the numbers on WeeGee's sheets.. Venezia was reasonably balanced.. The cries of it being so OP were made not understanding it. I dont have one, but I had started up the Italian cruiser line around February long before the issue happened.. So teams that went into battle with one of those select few CV's, and also a Venezia or two... Or three... Maybe four would do.... You get the picture... A lot of those teams saw their wins go up... Now on paper, that sure looks like a ship is over performing even though it was balanced before and no changes were made.. The source of the problem is in the details. By itself, the ship is balanced.. In a larger game, the Venezia is balanced with a 12v12 makeup is probably fine.. Pairing it in a 7v7 with the CV's spotting is what made it SEEM so strong.. With CV's the issue is a little tougher.. As players of other classes we felt when our AA and Defensive Fire consumables were nerfed, and it was painful. CV's also enjoy a considerable speed advantage, so often they can get successive attacks off on ships who are already suffering from an AA nerf that never should have happened whether it is early or late game (before and after AA takes damage from HE). We watched first hand how they received preferential treatment leaving us to come to terms with the fact that save a few select ships, we are now largely defenseless against them while they have the unlimited range to stay hidden and out of danger while attacking us. Doesnt matter what the numbers on Damage or win rate say, thats how the game plays out, and when each team has one CV apiece one is going to win while the other loses.. This means that luck at matchmaking is what affects win rate, not ship balance.. THE STATE OF AA IN WORLD OF WARSHIPS, CIRCA 2020 (I did not create, nor do I take credit/ownership for the picture above. I found it in a non Forum WoWS post) Some things may look good on paper, it is how real world implementation takes effect that matters and that paper may not be fit to wipe with. Until Wargaming learns that, the rift will continue along with the distrust and the anger.

The Devil's Advocate: Shall we do a test?

Yep... That happens when players have an option to buy their way to the top, either through premium ships, or free XP on a class they have not learned just to get the tier 10 ship... Thats why there are players who dont understand the Asashio, or have high tier Pan Asian DD and have no idea why their torpedoes couldnt hit the destroyer that charged them..
