  1. Generally the Iowa / Missouri / Montana, they usually point straight at me and I'm lucky if I can do 1k or 2k damage. Side on I've annihilated Yamatos in the same ships, but I'll be damned if I can so much as scratch their paint when they're pointing right at me. I know full well it isn't the best option, honestly I've known for weeks and it makes no difference to me. If I want to be effective, I've half a dozen ships already that I feel kinda meh on playing but are highly effective and get good results. This isn't my first meme ship, it's actually going to be my second one. I had a dozen odd people trying to dissuade me from going the route I did with that first one and lost probably my first 20 or so games with it just trying to figure out how to make it work, until it suddenly clicked in my mind how I was meant to be playing it and now I'm getting better results in it than I am in any of my more "effective" skill build ships, set my new base XP record in it and generally have endless amounts of fun in it, especially with all the fanmail and comments I get from the enemy team. Some people like veksha and the other early commenters in this thread forget that the main purpose of a game is to have fun and try to dissuade others from having fun, which is pretty scummy to do as far as I'm concerned. Meme builds are almost never the most effective build you can have or the most consistent, but the surprise factor goes a long way and by the gods there's nothing more fun than when you make one work. Don't let your dreams be dreams.
  2. See, now this is how you do advice. One thing I have noticed about the Yamato in general and fighting it in various BBs: that bow is a nightmare. A Yamato can just sail straight into a cap I'm trying to bat enemy ships away from to about 9km from me and I find there's not a damn thing I can do about it, he might as well have a deflector field for anything I fire at him. Anything to watch out for if I tried something similar?
  3. If I could give dislikes, know that I would be giving them to most of you. General maneuvering and positioning tips etc, or don't reply.
  4. This is the sort of thing I was looking for, thanks. Not interested in captain skills or upgrades, those have been planned out for a while now which is why I didn't ask about those parts. As for the rest of you, I specifically stated "that doesn't involve "don't do it"".
  5. I'm looking for people dumb enough who love memes and went with a full secondary build Yamato with Manual Firing secondaries. Please give me your tips & tricks you've learned from playing one (that doesn't involve "don't do it") for getting better results and more secondary hits in one. I'm just 125k xp from my own secondary Yamato now, so I'd like to gather any tips you guys might have beforehand.
  6. He tells me he did so about 20% of the time but often solo. As for the artillery mod, it apparently only makes a difference at all with hitting cruisers.
  7. Thanks for the advice guys, but I think I'll go with the AA mod, because this guy recommends I go with that one.
  8. Hi all, I just got my Montana and I'm trying to decide between Artillery Plotting Room Modification 2 and AA Guns Modification 3, the captain is AA spec. With Artillery Plotting Room Modification 2: 265m main battery dispersion and 802 AA damage per second (when under 3km) With AA Guns Modification 3: 297m main battery dispersion and 1002 AA damage per second (when under 3km) How important is an 11% drop in main battery dispersion?
  9. I figured that would be the case, I was just hoping there may be some way for me to throw my money at them. Seems silly for the offer to only be for a random ship you happen to be grinding, rather than one you would want to pay the money for. I'm not sure what you mean, it's the normal type 19 camo you can spend 4k doubloons for (for a T9 ship).
  10. I just won a game in my Iowa and got a message saying I could buy a special type 19 camo for it, with a link to this page: Is there any way to transfer the offer to a more useful ship like say the Montana or Yamato? The Iowa is basically worthless to me because of the Missouri, but I'd drop money on the offer in a heartbeat if it was for a ship I plan to keep past the end of the week.
  11. Finally just realised that this is for the camo only and not the ship as well, after finishing one set... guess I'll stick the rest of the collection in the trashcan where it belongs.
  12. Could you repeat this one, but in English, please?
  13. *update* T6 or higher, Win, 28k or more damage, 13 point or higher captain, 19 point captain on account, over 500k elite captain xp in reserve, 370k free xp unused. I have gotten it on every single win today and haven't seen many others get it, which makes me think that the requirement to get it is to win a game with X amount of elite captain's XP free for you to spend on your account. That's my best guess.
  14. Played my independence and got Skipper on deck again. Only connections I've seen between all 6 of them: T6 or higher, Win, American ship, 28k or more damage, 13 point or higher captain, 1 skill point unused on said captain, 19 point captain on account, over 500k elite captain xp in reserve, 370k free xp unused. *update:* T6 or higher, Win, 28k or more damage, 13 point or higher captain, 19 point captain on account, over 500k elite captain xp in reserve, 370k free xp unused.
