  1. I'm trying to find significant sequences. I sorted all the digit pairs and got this. 03 03 03 03 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 33 33 32 32 32 32 36 36 36 36 36 36 36 37 37 37 37 37 37 37 37 38 38 61 62 63 63 63 64 64 72 73 73 92 It worth noting that 20 usually precedes 36 or 37, but not the other way around. But 2036 and 2037 don't seem to map to a single character. They don't align at a width of 4 digits. I feel more confident that two digits make a character. 4-width sequences that align are: 2036 2036 2036 2036 3732 3732 3732 3664 3664 2037 2037 3320 3320 3820 3820 If two digits map directly to a character, there are 14 possible characters. No simple conversion like octal or hexadecimal representations covers that mapping, as the source values range from 03 to 92.
  2. Yes, it's a space and post-apocalypse crossover, but there should be more rewards to find. Probably a flag and stuff. I'm looking at the repetition of the sequence 0401 in the second transmission and trying to use that as a hint for what encoding is used.
  3. It's been nearly two months, we're now on 0.8.3.1, and there appears to have been nothing more said or done regarding this matter. So, uh, bump. Again. Hood was never a very good ship and the recent AP changes haven't done much in that regard. Without the AA gimmick, there's not much of reason to buy her.

    T7 Ops and CV's

I felt like playing an operation for once and just noticed this with Narai. I would welcome being able to use a T6 CV. I like it much more when operations are hard anyway.
  5. I'm going to bump this up because I'd very much like to know. I struggled enough playing Hood as it was. With the AP changes and the AA rework and now the second aura disappearing I'm starting to feel plain confused. It's particularly unfortunate since the "Fly! Strike! Win!" event is ongoing with missions for Hood.
  6. I think people might hate me even more as a CV player now than they did before the patch. My karma is dropping like crazy. And I can see why. One of the concerns I raised during the closed beta was that the rework gave no recourse for players to respond to carrier attacks, which was one of the big problems with the original system. If anything, the situation is worse because carriers now have less of an ability to support allies with fighter cover and a greater ability to correct aim during attacks.

I have been repeatedly told that US dive bombers are really good. I haven't had occasion to find out for myself.

Just as someone said in the past couple pages, I am encountering players who hug the border so carriers can only attack from the reinforced side.

I just got the tier 10s and the alert "Battleship République acquired elite status" pops back up every time I try to close it. Edit: Oh, it finally closed. Edit2: I am trying out the final carrier, Midway. I expect great things from the +48% fire chance from Demolition Expert on my attack aircraft. Edit3: Great things achieved.

So far it's been pretty smooth. Damage is more consistent with expectations*, flight controls are finally not awful, and aiming is decent with one exception. That exception is dive bombers. The target indicator is a bit behind where drops are actually made. If you start your attack run with the indicator over a still ship, your planes will drop ahead of that ship. I did just encounter one bug that occurred when I hit the button to launch more attack craft just as my current group of the same planes died. I can't remember if I hit F to go back and launch them or not. Anyway, I ended up following the planes with my camera and being able to orient them by mouse movement, but my key controls were for the carrier itself (attempting to launch more planes did nothing). Also, the camera followed the carrier until I opened to autopilot map. When the map closed, the camera switched to the planes. When the planes were destroyed, I was stuck unable to do anything. After a couple minutes, the controls suddenly returned to normal. * Although Shokaku absolutely destroys vulnerable T6 ships. 20k triple cits on each dive bomber run is just a bit much.

I'm curious what kind of questions the survey included. For both phases, the only question I was asked was whether I participated. I forgot to say earlier that I'm not terribly fond the reinforced AA sector idea. It's not bad exactly, it just seems kind of pointless. Inevitably, an attack from one direction will be followed by an attack from the opposite direction as the planes swing around for their second run. You don't really have a large enough window of time to make switching sides while under attack effective. Moreover, it has little effect against dive bombers, which approach from the front or rear rather than the sides. Somehow, this method of AA control gives the player even less recourse against carriers than they have in the game currently.

I think most of what I want to say has already been said. I'll add that my favourite type of bomber was the dive bomber in round one. It felt the most natural to me. In round two I had an awful time trying to aim with them. I ended up using mostly rocket craft and resorting to the other two only late in the game when there were just big ships left with weakened air defences from taking fire all game. Putting aside the AA balance issues, having to avoid flak bursts makes targeting with dive bombers incredibly difficult. Rocket and torpedo craft can continually adjust once they begin their attack run, but the drop point for dive bombers is fixed so you need to choose between saving your planes or intentionally flying through a flak burst to stay on target. On the upside, the UI elements displaying the availability of aircraft in the hangar and their regeneration rate is much clearer and easier to understand. I'll second what was said in the past few pages regarding long-range AA too. I rarely had a big problem with short range AA except on a couple occasions when there were solid walls of flak directly in my attacking torpedo bombers' way. It's the long-range bursts that are problematic.

My experience was about the same. I was getting 20k regularly in Shokaku and then I got Hakuryu and my damage was closer to 100k. Edit: The T10 damage is mostly in line with expectations.

I just experienced a lovely little bug where I couldn't type anything until my last plane returned to base and I had a phantom cursor opening tooltips from the team list. Then when I died I could type but not send anything to chat and every entered key would perform its corresponding out-of-chat action. Oh, now the game is over and everything is frozen and all the graphics left on screen have, well, I can screenshot it. I've crashed three times today, by the way.

Regarding the planes being vulnerable because they're stock, recall that all the other ships are stock too and likely have reduced AA.
