    Actually, I apologize--it looks like your original (v1) file was correct. The problem seems to have been a mod conflict. The old Kutuzov skin I was using included an "_n" (bump map) texture that changed the size and shape of the name plate. Since your package didn't include any _n's, the old one didn't get overwritten. But now that I've deleted it, your v1 version looks to be a perfect match. Sorry for the confusion.

    This looks awesome. The skin I already had was great; this is better. I've found one small issue with it. The name on the stern has a raised 3D nameplate that's smaller and doesn't match up with the texture's yellow lettering (I'm guessing the texture says "Mikhail Kutuzov", while the raised plate just says "Kutuzov"). I can't get a great shot of it right now cuz it's on the port side, which is in shadows in (AFAIK) all the ports... but if you still need it tomorrow I'll try to get a screenshot of it in-game...

    It looks correct--not mirror-imaged on either side. If I could make a couple of suggestions on it, tho: - When USN DDs had the large shaded hull numbers back in the 1930s, they were massive--on some classes they reached almost from the main deck to the waterline: http://www.navsource.org/archives/05/pix1/0530007.jpg . Also, that scheme would include a smaller version at the stern, along with the name: http://www.navsource.org/archives/05/pix2/0538320.jpg - DD-267 actually existed: the USS Ballard (Clemson-class). What about 200-205, which were cancelled and, as far as I can tell, never even named? One way to check the stock hulls on ships you already own (w/o having to re-buy the A hulls) is to either create a second NA account, or create an account on one of the other 3 servers. (You can use the Realm Tool in Aslain's to avoid having to download and install an entire second client.)

    Buddy and Chappy: Something I've been meaning to ask for awhile but keep forgetting: is the Nicholas/Farragut/Mahan package supposed to include textures for the Nicholas' A hull, or just the B? --edit-- Also, it seems the texture for the main guns in the Buddy/Chappy set are saved in .pdn format rather than .dds

    Great work on all the latest stuff, as usual. Nice to see the Soviet ships getting some love; I'm grinding up their DD lines right now, so I hope you might get to their tier 8-10 ships on those 2 lines at some point, too. The Kiev and Tashkent are definitely keepers, that's for sure, but they look kinda sad at the moment in their rusty old blue-gray paint. I did find one small problem on both the Donskoi and Kronstadht hulls: the numbers on the port side are backwards (mirror-image); might wanna check the Makarov to see if it's also the case there, as well.

    This is something I originally made strictly for my own personal use. I used Tanz's skin for the Iowa's Measure 32/1B dazzle camo as a template, modifying the default skin and keeping the original WG shade of haze gray, so that it'd look okay with all the other detail bits (turrets, AA mounts, rangefinders, etc.). But now that Tanz has apparently retired and his stuff isn't available anymore (AFAIK?), I feel like it might be okay to share this with others. (Tanz, if you're reading this and have a problem with that, say something and I'll take it down.) Added to the first post. Note that it's for the Iowa's A-hull only. I also have one for the B-hull, in the Missouri's Ms32/22D scheme. I can get that added eventually, too... or very soon, if no one minds not having an accompanying screenshot (I sold the B hull way back when the inventory system was first added).

But while that one is obvious, in the case of "Rhodes" nobody (AFAIK) seems to know the origin of it...

    Boise added to second post. Had done a little work on it a couple of months ago, then jumped back on it this weekend figuring I could get it finished off pretty quick. Oh, how wrong I was. This was hands-down the most... not "difficult", but "tedious" skin I've worked on yet. You quickly get a feel for how obviously last-minute the decision was to release this ship as Boise in addition to NdJ. The fact that there's a panamerica subfolder in this mod isn't a mistake; the ship actually still pulls some of its textures from there, even tho there are identical (but correctly-colored) versions in the usa/misc folder. I spent way too much time on this one considering that it's a ship I don't even own, and probably never will (unless it drops from an SC or Santa crate). But hopefully some of those of you who do have it will enjoy this one...

    I've done Salem, Flint, and Black in Measure 22 (also Salem in Cold War-era haze gray). But if you want them in dazzle camo, you'll have to wait and hope for someone else like TheStarSlayer or Tanz to get to 'em. Okay, I think I know what might've happened to you. It seems WG is in the process of updating their texture format somehow. Now, instead of there being one DDS file for each texture, there are 3 or 4, with extensions DD0, DD1, and DD2. They all seem to be exactly the same for each image, just in different sizes (512x512, 1024x1024, 2048x2048, and 4096x4096, for example). The ones ending in DDS now seem to be one of the smallest--if not THE smallest--of each one. (They haven't done this with every ship--yet--which is why I didn't notice it yesterday with the Alaska). The good news is, its still easy to find the largest version of each image for our purposes of working with it. Just unpack all of them, change their extensions to DDS, and you can open them like normal and find the biggest one. Bad news is, I'm not sure if the reverse is true (renaming them to DD0 or DD1 and having them work as they're supposed to). Also, I'm not sure what their purpose even is, or if we as modders need (or ever will need) to worry about including the extra non-DDS versions with each skin. I haven't actually played any games recently, but for now all my skins still seem to at least be showing up correctly in port, with only the DDS files. Something to keep in mind, at least, if we ever have more problems with them down the road...

    I extracted the Alaska textures yesterday and converted them to PNGs. Haven't done any work on them or attempted to put them into the res_mods folder yet, but they don't look any lower-rez to me than any of the previous files...

    Hey, everyone - Sorry for not posting anything new for awhile (thanks TheStarSlayer for answering some of the questions while I was MIA). I'm just in one of those periods where I really have no interest in doing anything involved with this game at the moment. But I heard about 7.9 breaking all the texture mods, so I figured I'd at least get those fixed up and re-posted. All the links should now be for updated, working skins. Also, WG recently(...?) changed the texture for the Des Moines/Salem turrets. If you're using one of these skins for either of those ships, go check it, and if the main guns look wonky go to your ../res_mods/ folder and delete this file: AGM025_8in55_Triple_Mk16_a.dds. Good news is that WG's new turret texture looks to be pretty free of rust, so a replacement for use w/ these isn't really necessary anymore. Hopefully I'll be in the mood to start playing again soon, and at that point I'll get busy on Ms22 skins for the Boise, Alaska, Wichita, and maybe Seattle...

    This took a surprisingly-long time of Googling, but eventually I found it. The original gremlin, uncovered: So technically either version is correct: Turret 1 for active-duty, WWII, and Turret 2 for 1960s+ museum ship. But either way, it should be on the starboard side, not the port.
