    So, a submarine game mode?

Everyone would still get to play, and WG would both keep the old, and gain new players with such a game mode. I still don't see a good reason why not, at least initially.

    So, a submarine game mode?

Don't get me wrong, I could forsee the PvE and operations side expand significantly as well. This submarine/convoy game mode would still be mainly to satisfy the PvP crowd. I think the mode would still be more action as opposed to realism, in the same vein as our current random game play favors action over realism.
  3. So the pro "subs in randoms" and anti "subs in randoms" people are going all cats and dogs in a few forum posts and I don't want to discuss that here. I myself am viewing subs in randoms with cautious pessimism at the moment, but that could change. One point that gets dredged up in these arguments is a separate convoy attack/defense game mode for sub and anti sub play. I think its a great idea, with few negatives, at least for the initial introduction of submarine warfare to the game. Player controled subs and possibly aircraft attacking a convoy or task force vs player controled escort ships and carriers defending them. Pros: - Submarines could be introduced in their classic historic role, which will please the history crowd and the submarine crowd. People likely are looking for a cat and mouse action game while playing the silent service. - It could act as a soft intro of subs to randoms, get players used to dealing with subs and subs to deal with anti sub. - A new game mode, which is always awesome... but also a place for WG to play with game balence with subs and even aircraft. I do think having player controled escort carriers and player controled land based attack squadrons would actually be pretty cool, and keep the game moving. - WG wants to sell us stuff, totally understandable. Not only could lines of submarines come out, but WG could literally produce dozens of types of escort ships that really could never make it in a random battle. Corvettes, destroyer escorts, sub chasers, escort carriers, coast guard cutters, submarine chasers... they would be able to bring in way more ships. - Something other than the random battles that we have. People seem to want subs introduced to mix up randoms. This would give them some variety, while also softening the intro of subs to randoms for those who think things are fine as they are. I honestly can't see any major negatives, aside from the programming and server needs to add it to the game. Which may be significant, I don't know. Let me know if you guys are seeing something that I'm not! Edit- Spelling

Flamu: Subs - a disaster brewing

How on earth is that a good thing? The game has already gotten more static, only the DDs and some BBs push. Now who the heck is going to move anywhere?
  5. I don't necessarily think that applies in this scenario, I'm sure he'll work on being a submarine unicum as soon as he needs to. But I have to say I like how you put your argument...
  6. I agree with you that Teamwork is awesome. However, carriers as they stand haven't yet resulted in more teamwork, the need to support your other classes DDs, CL/CAs, and BBs haven't resulted in more teamwork, even the win bonus (the only thing WG does to promote team play) hasn't brought about more teamwork. What on Earth makes you think that Subs are going to be the thing that does it?

    Help Me Understand?

A game type with limited torps for DDs? Sure! Make sure we take away the little triangles and the ability to spot them outside of 100 yards away too. Honestly a more realistic version of the game could be fun...

    Help Me Understand?

This is a ship themed action game, get realistic out of your head. Single DDs wouldn't survive very long, no ships would really, in the environment that the game has. Damage is king, and torps are most DDs main weapons for causing damage, a15 torp spread is for area denial and to hit anything they can. Just the nature of the beast.
  9. I'm not confident that submarines are going to work in the random battles that WG has set us up with so far, its going to throw some serious wrenches into randoms. That being said, I would love an attack/convoy defense mode for submarines. The smaller escorts that won't work in randoms could be thrown into those as well.

    Subs are getting interesting..............

Yeah, playing DD you feel like a Battleship that has a DD around, constantly seen but unable to see where he is. Its going to be tough for DDs in randoms if there are a bunch of subs. Most DDs can't survive being spotted for to long
  11. Unfortunately all that will happen is that submarines will get pushed out no matter how complete to take advantage of the hype. Movie looks pretty cool though!

These videos are excellent, keep them coming! I'm curious to hear your thoughts about the British DDs when the time comes.

    Economical X DD?

2nd vote for premium camo, unless you are a T10 Unicum, you won't make too much silver without it.
