Well, it's more the combination of the three (purity, modesty and tradition) that makes it so, rather than any single one of them. People just don't equivalate Taisho-era clothes with sexy, or lolitastic. Kamikaze draws out more of a platonic type of feeling IMO. But yeah, if fanart and doujin were correlated, Hiryu would have a lot of doujin, but she doesn't. That's because most of Hiryu's art and doujin are non-H. Most of her doujin are super grim and serious if she's not paired with Soryu, except for the 4-koma which is 100% comedy. And most people don't buy grimdark at comiket, they buy cute stuff or erotic stuff. Yahagi is also widely popular but doesn't have much quantity in terms of h-doujin (though she does have good ones). Verniy is also very interesting because she has much more ero-doujin than she has ero-pixiv-drawings. But she also is wildly popular on non-h fanart, far more so than her ero-doujin collection would imply. Though, of course, all of this is based off of my impressions browsing pixiv and hunting for doujin. I don't have any hard pixiv stats to back it up. Well, it's only been shown that Allies can be kanmusu, and that IJN ships can be abyssals. That does not mean Allies can't be Abyssals anymore. Rather, we've been shown that ships of any nation can be abyssals. So they can very well be PoW and Repulse. Right now, the theory that abyssals = fallen kanmusu is rather strong.

I've only seen a single one. Like Morgane said, around 80% of KanColle doujin is R18. And I don't think Kamikaze and Harukaze attract that many people in the R18 crowd. They're a little too pure, modest and traditional to tickle the inner lolicon like that. Fanart popularity =/= Doujin popularity

That's because to us seasoned players, both last year's easy mode and this year's easy modes were both easy, thus it's hard for us to see the difference. But a newcomer would see things differently. Like you said, easy mode this time is easy unless you did nothing or just started out. But, previously, easy mode was easy even if you did nothing or just started out. A year ago, easy mode would either replace BBH with Ru-class BBs or reduce the number of BBH that appear. But now they have BBH that are weaker but can still hit like a train. For example, the double BBH in E3. To us, double pre-boss BBH is a nuisance. To new players, double BBH is like a insurmountable wall. This is doubly so if they haven't even unlocked Tokyo Express and thus don't have access to the same level of logistics. It's probably a compromise to make easy mode still easy for seasoned players, but still make final maps inaccessible to newcomers. The entire way the event is structured feels like this. SS Hime would have been unthinkable for an E1 boss last year. I mean, the E1 bosses back then would be along the lines of a single Ta-class battleship (plus CL and DDs escorts). SS Hime requires you to have a decent arsenal of ASW equipment to sink, even on easy. A Ta-class battleship, on the other hand, could be cleared by an absolute greenhorn even on hard. Just a little observation I've made watching live streams of beginners on nico nico.

True, What I meant was that Easy Mode used to be beginner friendly to give newcomers a chance at obtain x ship. Now, Easy Mode has become "farming mode" for advanced players rather than "beginner mode".

Yeah, there's nothing to be embarrassed about. Since the previous event, easy mode ceased to be "easy mode" for the final maps.

Oh? I don't remember what they were like. I need to be able to go back and listen to seasonal lines. KanColle v doesn't have seasonal lines. Not that KanColle v works for me anymore to begin with. Anyhow, the point is, I'm worried for Hiryu and Soryu's new lines. But if my worries are proven to be for naught, I will be a very very happy man. I've always wanted Hiryu hourlies.
