  1. Ration Collection

Steve's a true national treasure. Dude's probably immune to botulism at this point.
  2. Ration Collection

Hello, I haven't been around lately as life's been pretty busy so I figured that I might make a fun little post for a niche interest upon my return. For those interested, here is a link to an imgur album featuring the British Ministry of Defence's 24 Hour Operational Ration Pack (https://imgur.com/gallery/N9nSM). I have quite a lot of US MREs in possession and had one Russian IRP but didn't really do albums of their contents until now. What rations have you folks tried in the past and how was it?
  3. Chef Canadian at it again

Local Fire Service building burns down, News at 5.
  4. Chef Canadian at it again

Looks like the local fire department's gonna get a call soon :)
  5. Need help: New gaming PC

If you've got a bit of cash for the GPU, Newegg has a 1080 for 500 which I personally think is a steal. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125880
  6. Firearm Gripes

I know that bluing is not a wonder finish and I'll admit that putting it into the same compartment as my AR-15 was a dumb idea but I have done a lot worse to my Lee Enfield, Mosin, and Glock and the resulting scratch on the finish was not even close to what happened to the R870. I refer to it as trusty because I've had many positive experiences with R870s owned by family and friends. I don't hate Remington, I love their 700 rifles and I own one. But when you pick the 870 Express up and look at it, you can tell that the finish is a lot cheaper than the one used on some of their other firearms while being in the same price range.
  7. Firearm Gripes

That's what I thought at the beginning since my M&P Sport II was only 500 dollars or so. But after trying out so many optics (including a Russian EKP-8-18 Kobra sight unit) I decided to just save up for the Trijicon. At this point I have some regrets on not taking the Mossberg. Guess if I buy another scattergun, I'll know where to send my money.
  8. Firearm Gripes

I don't think I have ever seen glass that was as clear as the Trijicon's. Clear glass, good illumination (no batteries!), and a good field of view. If you're looking for an topic to do dirty work with, I wouldn't recommend anything else. I've got a Remington 700 with a Vortex Crossfire II and despite having the 4-12x capability, I still love the Trijicon over it.
  9. Firearm Gripes

The newer Remingtons (made in the last 20 years) have some serious QC issues :(
  10. Firearm Gripes

(Intentionally named the thread 'Firearm Gripes' as to not be confused with IV8888's 'Gun Gripes' series on Youtube) So today I decided to hit the range and brought my nice M&P15 with me along with the trusty ol' Remington 870 that I had originally bought for trap but put a 18.5" barrel and heat shield on for defensive use. I was in a hurry so I tossed them both into the same compartment in my range bag. So about fifteen minutes later, I'm there and I take both guns out... Now I know Remington had some serious quality control issues (their nickname is Rustington for a reason) but holy moley, the receiver was scratched up and there was a giant dent in the stock. I have nothing against wear and tear on guns. In fact, my No. 4 Mk I has a pretty beat up stock and the black enamel paint that was originally applied over the blued steel is pretty much gone and I still love that thing to hell. But seriously Remington? You couldn't have put a better finish on it? Luckily I had PermaBlue laying around from when I was getting rid of a little mark on my Mosin Nagant and was able to cover most of it decently well. My trusty do-it-all rifle, the Smith and Wesson M&P15 Sport II with a very nice Trijicon ACOG TA-31F Trusty Ol' Remington 870 before the scratchero. The bare metal has been covered by PermaBlue, leaving a much darker finish on the areas that were scratched off. Have any of you guys had any issues with gun manufacturers? If so, please do share.

  12. Navy Badge Design Ideas?

I did some Googling about the name. Can you confirm that it's the Maori name for the country? If so, then I suggest a landscape view of the island with some other symbol on top of it.

What kind of ship is she?
  14. The Bridge at Remagen was a pretty good movie but the Dirty Dozen has got to be one of the best WW2 movies out there.
