Yay my very first reticule mod ever :D

  1. Nickname of the author: iChase
  2. Reticle name: F.I.R.E. and I.C.E.
Advantages of the reticle - Each tick mark is now numbered.
                                                - Black borders make reticle more visible on bright maps
                                                - Fire using colour sectors instead of numbers, fast engagements make it hard to track numbers. Just use colours instead. Yellow --> Orange --> Red --> Purple.

Reticle name:  Enhanced Visibility Yellow

For this contest, I thought about what was missing from the already great crosshair options.  5.5 brought in a number of amazing crosshairs, and it has been a true pleasure to try different ones instantly and see how they work.  That said, I am colorblind and my display crushes blacks, making contrast difficult.  It got so bad recently that I developed headaches from all the eye strain of searching for the numbers on some of the maps, especially Islands of Ice.  Therefore, I set about modifying the stock crosshairs to make them more visible and reduce eye strain.

The process:
I took the standard "type 3" crosshair and made them all solid with a bright color.  I found that yellow was by far the most visible.  Yet it was still hard to see against the bright white background of snowy mountains.  Therefore, the crosshair has been bordered by a line of black.  While I was at it, I enlarged the numbers to make them easier to see, and widened the markers at each of the numbers to make them easier to find.  And to make them even easier to find, I added stripes to each one.  One stripe = 5, two = 10, and so on.

In practice:
Wow this crosshair has made a huge difference.  My eyes are no longer so strained in making judgment, and at times when I want to judge my shots based on shell flight time, it's just a quick glance and FIRE!

Features:
- Fully visible crosshair - practicality over aesthetics.
- Black border guarantees visibility in any environment.
- Enlarged numbers for easier viewing.
- Enlarged markers and stripes under each number.

The crosshair components (note, for the stock crosshair, there are two images):

Spoiler
You can see that the modified crosshair is far easier to see.  Can you see the number 15 in the stock crosshair screenshot?  I can - but it took me a good 2-3 seconds to find it.  I don't have that kind of time in a battle!  Compare this to the Enhanced Visibility crosshair.  I especially find it useful against enemy destroyers which are usually so fast and small it requires me to aim with my target at the edge of the screen.  Having a solid crosshair that reaches out to the periphery of the screen is a huge bonus.  The stock crosshair disappears, making distance judgments difficult.

Want to try it out yourself?  It's easy - download the crosshairs.swf file and drop it into the following folder (see readme.txt file for more details):  World_of_Warships\res_mods\0.5.5.0\gui\flash

Thanks, Wargaming, for giving me an opportunity to positively impact the game and the player base!  And it gave me an excuse to learn to mod this great game :).  Even if this crosshair does not end up in the final product, I will be using it for some time.

5. I don't know what this means. I suppose as far as size requirements go I think it might possibly need to be scaled down a bit for in the game. However I don't have much experience and haven't been able to test it in-game.

I'm new to this and haven't been able to test it in-game so the design probably needs to be scaled a bit better than I've done it currently.
