I know you won't work on perm camos but man do the new permanent camos for Amagi and Nagato look horribly bad and out of place compared to the rest of the IJN BB line.

Hi !

Nagato permanent camouflage is very near to my Special type 5. And it's nearly a historical camouflage. So, if I change it, I will almost make the same as WG ...

Same thing for Amagi.

I don't understand your point of view because these camouflages are really IJN style (dark green, light green and white). I choose these colors too for all IJN ships.

I found them really beautiful.

Any plans to do custom camo for the ARP ships (make em look like normal ships?)

Neither do I... That's why I'm trying to find a mod that makes them look like normal Japanese ships.

I've modded this for myself, if there isn't one being maintained I might put mine up.

Oh cool! Does it just strip the ARP stuff from the ships or does it replace the ARP stuff with Stock camo's? (I.E Does the Takao get the Atago camo?)

Just strips the ARP stuff, so they look like stock ships. I looked into getting historical skins for the different ones, but I could only find maybe one or two good ones for the Myokos and maybe one for the Kongo. And I'd need permission to include those even if I did that.

Since you said on your site that you're abandoning the mod, any chance you might turn it over to someone else to keep it updated for you?  I'd hate to lose out on all these awesome camos. :(

Seconded. I just found this mod, and I'm disappointed you've given up.

I don't intend to take over development of the mod personally, but I hope someone else does. It would be great if you could share your .PSD work files (or the equivalent files for paint.net/gimp/whatever). Some notes on methods used would be nice as well.

I have a highly customized camouflage environment; I've made a few homebrewed textures, and use many others taken from other mods (like Mebius' excellent Splinter mod), plus standard camouflage textures with customized color schemes in camouflages.xml (the editing of which I went into depth about in this reddit post). I'll end up taking those schemes I like from this mod and integrating them with my own setting.

For people who are not aware (since Wawan didn't make posts on his English threads), Wawan is taking a break from the game and will not be updating his mod anymore. Here's his post on his website:

Wawan25 Quote

Translation by garfield001

There will not be anymore updates for Unique Camouflage MOD.

For personal and technical reasons, I need to stop.

The adventure therefore ends here.

Thank you to everyone for your support and your numerous encouraging words.

Who knows, maybe in a few months, I will continue the mod...

! IMPORTANT !

Do not use this last version 0.6.0.1 for future patches

because you will block any new event and permanent camouflages,

but also the display of new ships in the game.

This is terrible. :-(

I will try my hand at keeping the existing camos updated for my use, but I'm not sure if I can post it up here, and I won't have the time to add any new stuff.

Edit: Doesn't look like anything changed camo wise in 0.6.1.1, so the existing 0.6.1 download should work for now.

Honestly, keeping the mod updated for personal use really shouldn't be too hard. Basically, if a new update adds new camouflages (ship gains premium camouflage, a new seasonal/event camo is added, new ships are added, etc.) you just have to look at the camouflages.xml for the new update and find the information for the new camouflage. Given that - for ship-specific camouflages - you can pretty much just search the ship's name with Ctrl+F and jump to each instance of it to find all applicable camouflages, that bit's not very hard. The annoying ones would be new event camos, which don't always have indicative names.

That having been said, I'm pretty sure it'd be possible to use something like Github as a tool to see what differences there are between one version of a file and another, so you could easily find new camouflages through that.

The real loss would be future lines like the new French cruisers on the horizon, which wouldn't get these kind of unique camouflages unless either Wawan comes back or somebody else takes it upon themselves to make their own and share them.

...well, except the ones with a premium camouflage. Because if all you want is the appearance, it's hilariously easy to just swap one camouflage's appearance with another, like say a ship's premium camouflage and the Type 1 camouflage.

Indeed, I used winmerge with the latest update and was able to get the Camouflages.xml  updated in a minute or two.

However not everyone is conformable editing game/xml files themsevles, so I was merely gauging interest if there were those that would like to keep on using this mod with an up to date download.

Here is an updated Camouflages.xml file that works with 0.6.2.2.

To install

  1. Download the last version of the unique camouflage mod from the website.
  2. Place it in your 0.6.2.2 res_mods folder.
  3. Replace the camouflages.xml file there with the one you downloaded above.
  4. Enjoy using this mod again.
