Hi guys! Yep the title says it, there is a surviving ship from the Pearl Harbor attack that exists today and is a museum.

Her name? USCGC Taney (WPG/WAGC/WHEC-37), Treasury-class cutter.

An image of her in her prime, 1943. She was the only cutter armed with 4 x 5 inch/38 caliber guns.

The message: "Air Raid, Pearl Harbor. This is no drill" came at 07:55 on 7 December 1941, as Japanese planes swept overhead in an attempt to cripple the Pacific Fleet. Taney, moored alongside Pier 6, Honolulu harbor, manned her anti-aircraft guns swiftly when word of the surprise attack reached her simultaneously. As no Japanese attacks were directed at Honolulu harbor, the Coast Guard cutter was only given the opportunity to fire at stray aircraft which happened to venture into her vicinity.

She served from 1936-1986, a 50 year service to the US Coast Guard/US Navy.

She currently presides in Baltimore alongside USS Constellation as a museum ship.

Her awards for her service are as follows:

Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation,

Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation,

American Defense Service Medal,

American Campaign Medal,

European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one battle star,

Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two battle stars,

World War II Victory Medal,

Navy Occupation Service Medal with "ASIA" clasp,

National Defense Service Medal with one service star,

Korean Service Medal,

Vietnam Service Medal with three campaign stars,

Humanitarian Service Medal,

Vietnam Gallantry Cross with palm,

Vietnam Civil Actions Medal with palm,

United Nations Korea Medal,

and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Hope you enjoyed this quick look at a piece of history! Fair winds and following seas captains! :honoring:

I've heard the name here before, can't remember where, but I remember mentioning it looks like a mini Fletcher :3

Should be the T2 anniversary ship.

If she were in her 1943 configuration with 4 5"/38 mounts, she'd practically be a T3 light cruiser despite her low displacement due to how much firepower those guns put out (their slowest reload in-game is 5 seconds, and that's on Atlanta which has 12 guns per broadside - the slowest reload any DD gets is 4 seconds).  Of course, if they switched configurations and gave her her 1945 loadout with just 2 5"/38 single mounts, then she'd be fine as a T2 cruiser.  The problem then becomes that she'd have 3 twin Bofors and 4 single Oerlikons - broken AA for T2 considering nothing except Katori even has tangible AA before T4.  Maybe not a problem right now, but if Lert's suggestion to have MACs become T2 premium CVs goes through...

Well, I guess it's close enough to the Katori to get into T3 :)

There's still a tug that was there around too. I'll have to try to find the link.

Fun fact: in the Sabaton song, Wolfpack, alongside the USS Gleaves (DD-423), Taney's sister Ingham (Which should technically be Spencer) is mentioned in convoy ONS-92.
