A good example of appropriate response.

In the meantime, in China, plagued by drone enthusiasts, Wuhan police says no more, and deploys a futuristic $36,000 rifle, takes out 6 drones in one day.

The police intends to buy 19 more.

There is no better kill than over kill :D

I really am just your average, every-man World of Warships player. My play style according to Warships today:

  • Mostly plays cruisers, especially medium-tier and is good in them
  • Deals an above average amount of damage
  • Extremely rarely uses torpedoes
  • Key vehicle - Cleveland

At least a recent former president who I won't name due to the EULA did not pass a bill to build real Death Star after a petition with enough signatures to warrant the US president to make an official response to it lol gave me quite the laugh, I had thought about adding my signature to that petition but don't know if I was old enough to have legally signed that one, but still made me laugh. It was labeled "In the interest of National Defense United States needs to build a Dearh Star." Lol that would have been the most expensive weapon ever and who knows it would possibly have been great at shooting drones... $3 million  could be a bargain if you consider other alternatives.

So I'm guessing said US ally has no access to stingers, 20 mm, or 40 mm AA guns that are more than sufficient for taking out a 200 dollar drone at generally illegal heights at far less of a cost. Though if it was below 500 they should be able to knock it out with a standard rifle or at worst a .30/50 mg.

The fact that a Patriot missile battery can even effectively target something with a radar signature as small as a $200 drone, I find most impressive.

I'd be worried if they couldn't, it's 3mil a missile.

Good luck, Captains! May the winds blow in your favour, and may your shells fly straight and true!

If you see me in a game, cover your eyes and ears cos I'm gonna suck. In fact, run like hell and hope we lose honorably. And burn your eyes after seeing my stats.

Me too. I believe it has a very very power Ka-band radar that should be powerful enough to barbecue squirrels, making it effective at locking low signature targets and difficult to jam.:teethhappy:

Theres no such thing as over kill. Only "open fire" and "I need to reload!" =P

Still, I like china's way of doing better to be honest, cause it also seems to keep the drone intact, saving the user their money (if they get to keep it mind you) Let people have their fun, but just make sure they aren't stupid about it.

Radar is a funny thing, the problem is not seeing something that small, it's filtering out all those small things to detect actual threats.  It's the reason that "stealth" is even a thing, most radars are programmed to ignore objects under a certain size to prevent them from tracking flocks of birds or even changes in air temperature.

To be fair who shot it is a US ally, not the US itself.  We assume its a very rich one, and one that happens to be in the Middle East.

first of the drone shot down with the missle was in the middle east were drones are known to be used as VBIEDS so yeah i would still call that an appropriate response.

and 2nd off the range on the "drone gun" is short and not practical for any place were MILITARY action is taking place. Also that gun only works at interrupting the radio coms with whoever is driving it till it auto lands. but what happens when that drone is a bomb and the moment you have it land someone calles a cell phone attached to the drone and boom now you just set a bomb off in the middle of a steet and there you go.

its 2 dif inviorments and 2 dif types of fighting needed. but you cant take 1 and put it in the other

Or South Korea.
