So, a significant player base wants to keep the current meta (angling, bow on, etc)  because they can own everybody else if you don't do it perfectly.

So mod-makers, make an overly with tics to show where to put the guns and be perfectly angled?  Or a guide with degrees off the bow both ways to give a optical guide to angle your ship.

If players are going to be stuck with a crappy meta let's make it so everybody can use that meta to its fullest advantage.

We don't need to give more crutches to players to save them from the good ones. How about just improve yourself?

if this angling mess was a real naval tactic, it would have been incorporated into ships to make it easier to carry out.  It's not a crutch when it would actually be used.  And why are you worried if some were to use such a overlay?

I agree with left on that, and said so in his thread.

You could just use the navigator mod in aslains. It gives an angle for both you and your target to help with those angling problems. But generally with most ships with guns in the back a pretty good rule of thumb is if you can get the back guns on target, you probably are showing too much broadside. Hope that helps.

There's nothing wrong with angling your ship.  It's just playing smart to increase your armor's effective thickness.  OTOH, constant bow-on tactics are boring, and I wish that the devs would do something to discourage it further.  Constant bow on tactics cause battles to become increasingly static in a game where ships should be constantly in motion.

And if this game held true to real naval tactics and history, you would have about a 3% hit rate and games would last hours... and angled ship just means sling HE at it, they will get the hint. Just because you may be in another BB doesn't mean it is not wise to load HE in against angled targets.

They are fixing it! Neutering torpedoes, adding fire resistance, completely nuking stealth firing...oh, wait.

combat with guns in these ships didn't last hours.  They lasted minutes at Battle of Java Sea.  Where they lasted hours were with the aircraft carriers due to flight times.
