A great review as always Mouse! I was looking forwards to this review for a long time. In all, it pretty much just confirmed everything that I had heard. Kind of bummed about her citadel as I really do want this ship. However,  with the Missouri getting hers lowered, I am might as well just take the cost of the Bama and put it towards gold for the Missouri. I sure she is a great ship, but I just don't like battleships with massively exposed citadels like that. I don't mind it in cruisers as I can dodge and weave (as Lert found out when he was trying to sink my Graf Spee in his Alabama last night, was fun playing against you Lert :honoring: )

Still a +1 for you Mouse! Keep up the awesome work that it takes to make these reviews! We really appreciate it!

Everything but the citadel looks pretty good.

Wiggly little so-and-so.

Nice as always Mouse. Maybe I'll meet you  and Lert and your other friend in game with one like we did with the Kongos!

If reviews are going up... Probably a week at the most... But I could be wrong.

Hey wait a sec...great review as always and all, but what about the "Kraken cammo" she was first shown in? Is that still for testers?

That's for the supertest reward version. It's the same ship, just a different camo. As was evident from the game files from the moment the sip was first leaked.

Question for those that played her...

Is Alabama equal to WarSpite, where they each play in their tier bracket ? (So A T6 match in WS and a T8 match in Alabama)

--> Both seem agile, both seem fragile (Both can mitigate damage by staying bow-on and careful exposing broadsides), and both can brawl but it's dangerous to do so?

That will help make my decision if buy or not.

I am not going to decide until I see the cost and how they bundle it

Shame about the unhistorical citadel height (especially with the news of Iowa and Montana having it corrected, especially since Iowa/Alabama share the exact same armor layout), but the rest of the ship seems to compensate for it perfectly.

Arguably, Alabama uptiers better than Warspite.  Warspite has bow-on immunity to most guns at tier 6 but none at tier 7 or 8.  Alabama has bow-on immunity to tier 8 and 9 guns and most tier 10 short of Yamato's.

I'd be ok with that.

Very high chance of 72$ CAD (same as Tirpitz) unbundled. For the rest that remains to be seen

Ok if she plays like a T8 WarSpite I'm for sure getting her.  Her agility is already decently good given the tier.  But in same tier matches ?

In other words, does she feel like playing a WarSpite?

Mouse would you recommend this over the Tirpitz or vice versa?

They play very differently.  Tirpitz is a close range brawler specialist.  She has to stay at range until she can safely close with an isolated enemy where she can tear them apart.  Tirpitz doesn't have the AA power of Alabama, but she's faster and far more durable.  Alabama specializes in using her guns at medium to long range.  She's far more fragile.  So ask yourself this:  Do you like to brawl or do you prefer to snipe?

Nice write up, LWM! The SoDak class is probably one of the best value-for-money battleships used during WWII, along with the Kongou- and King George V-class battleships. Very tempting, even though I don't play American battleships and already have three premium USN BBs.

You know, I was actually hoping that the ST version would be the Alabama and the normal premium version the Massachusetts. That would be a little more interesting than just Alabama ST and Alabama.

Cheerios.
