Going by the leaks so far, looks like Henri IV is going to be essentially a Moskva that trades HP, 1knt of speed, maneuverability, radar, AA, and RoF for better alpha, gun caliber(240mm, about 9.45in), engine boost(!), and torpeedus (a set of 3 to each side).

Shells have a lower initial velocity (845m/s: for reference Fiji, Belfast, and Edinburgh all have 841m/s initial velocity), but due to the increased caliber (and thusly weight), I believe that Henri IV's shells will retain their velocity better than, say, Des Moines or any of the RN CLs. The arcs should be somewhere in between VMF railguns and USN rainbows, probably closer to VMF than USN.

So far, definitely looking forward to this! ^_^

Speed will likely be the fenchies bread and escargo. That being said the ships will all come with multiple white flags and have the ability to changes sides mid-battle. They will also have the unique trait of "save me, while I take credit for it and never say thank you".

Except the French cruisers weren't know for their speed until the Emil Bertin. :P

The 240mm guns will be interesting. Suspect that heavy 240mm shells will lolpen any other cruiser.

Yep, I forgot to check the colours though, so Saint Louis and Des Moines have the same colour line, Saint Louis is the one just above Algérie.

So it's penetration is probably sufficient to kill cruisers at range but it's no Moskva. It can over-match any Royal Navy cruisers tho. Damn that HE looks like it'll get some good fires going. It'll be interesting to see how it plays!

The Euroland discussion states the leaked pen values might be off. The French spent a lot of time on the new generation of shells.

Found this video on their armor layout so I figured I'd post it here.

I really DON'T agree with the commentary of the armor because of the following but it is nice to see the armor layouts of these ships (I look forward to shooting at them soon :)):

I didn't see the BELT armor on the French light cruiser with no citadel so for all I know they have average armor built in to their ship plating or auxiliary systems (since they don't appear to have casemates). But assuming they don't I believe a citadel penetration is the max damage the round can do no matter what (reference is the Wiki page about armor penetration). This isn't World of Tanks/Blitz so spaced armor doesn't work the same way and we don't have a HEAT shell mechanic or the same HE penetration/damage mechanic either. We all know that there is a much larger space between the bow of a ship and the first bulkhead but we've all scored a citadel hit on a cruiser this way before in Warships.

No but they WILL have more armor in the rear of their turrets, sure someone will turn that into some sort of running away joke. Not sure what rear turret armor is for other than splinter protection.
